mr. moore, iysoo ronald reagan is introducing america's first trillion dollar budget today. she says i only have one question, how many zeros are there in a trillion? it was the worst interview i ever did in my life. i just melted down. it was all downhill from there. by the way, does anyone know how many zeros there are in a trillion? 12, and i know that now but the real question we have to ask yourself is what comes after 100 trillion, a gazillion? but i think you make a very good point that the numbers were talking about are so large there unfathomable and i actually think maybe the sinister part of me, but i think when the obama administration was talking about the silly economic stimulus package that the introduced that passed in january or february, i think they figured, we can ask for $100 billion or a trillion dollars, most of the american people don't know the difference between the two so we will just ask for a trillion and then our friend, arlen specter, said not a trillion dollars, only $800 billion they got the package through. when we started writing this book,

back when ronald reagan made those quotes? and is it -- mr. hoyer: would the gentleman yield on that question? mr. cantor: i will. let me finish, mr. speaker. that's number one. is it appropriate in the war spending bill for the taxpayers of this country to be guaranteeing $108 billion to the i.m.f. when we are only providing our troops $80-some billion? that's more than we are providing our troops for a global bailout. and that's the first line of questioning, mr. speaker, i'd ask the gentleman. secondly, does he expect to produce more than the 200 votes that the gentleman's side produced on the first go-round on this supplemental bill because if not, then he would need to have some support from this side of the aisle. mr. speaker, i'd say to the gentleman "the new york times" has pointed out, may 27, hezbollah, the shiite militant group, has talked with the i.m.f. and the european union european union about continued financial support. so is he aware that this money that we are affording the i.m.f. to extend to countries who are in need woul

gentleman would urge his party to support this consistent with the principles of ronald reagan and george bush. i yield back. mr. cantor: i thank the gentleman. i think as the gentleman knows, we're probably going to have to leave this topic and just agree to disagree. it's very concerning, given the new times we are in and frankly the facts and information has come forward about the special drawing rights about the fact and knowledge that we have at this point knowing u.s. taxpayer dollars will help facilitate countries like iran, venezuela, burma, and others to access more money to do what it is that they think is in their interest and certainly not in the interest of the u.s. but i would like to turn the gentleman's attention back to his statement about the intention of this bill and the primary purpose of the war funding bill which again to loosely paraphrase was to provide for troop safety and security and that's the underlying purpose. and the gentleman indicated that the president has already taken the same position that most of us, i believe, in this house have taken so far as these photos are concerned

when ronald reagan went before the brigade, he did not say, mr. gorbachev, that was none of our business. he said, mr. gorbachev, tear down this wall. >> i think that we have been very clear. obviously, we do not support the decision of this administration to engage with a terrorist regime. obviously, when you have a regime that conducts itself the way it has over the last week on display for the world to see, brutalizing and killing people because they're standing up for their rights, had it calls into question the ability for us as a country, as a civilized world leader to trust anything that this regime may represent. i believe we would come down on the side of trying to bring forward the refined petroleum sanctions act, to go ahead, and this administration is going to engage with a terrorist regime, let's at least go in and say, look, we want results out of those engagements. the results can only come if the regime itself feels the pressure of the world community. that its actions are unacceptable. >> thank you very much.
