ms. fiorina: thank you.y our tax code. our tax code today is 73,000 pages long. let me tell you what that means. as chief executive of what we turned into a $90 billion company, i could hire armies of accountants and lawyers and lobbyists to figure out all of that 73,000 pages, and we did. but the nine person real estate firm, they can't. so they are getting crushed. my husband frank and i have been fortunate, we can hire an accountant to do our taxes, and we do. every year the accountant puts our tax returns in front of us, i close my eyes, i sign, i pray. i don't have a clue what i'm signing. i hope they do. i am always convinced they do. my point is this -- when government is complicated, big, only the big, the powerful, the wealthy can handle it. the bigger government gets, the more complicated it gets, the more true it becomes that it favors the big and powerful. we are crushing small businesses with this 73,000 page tax code, just like we are crushing them with the complexity of obamacare, which is why

ms. fiorina, welcome. >> how are you, chuck? nice to be with you. >> all right. nice to hear from you. let me start with, i know you were disappointed by what happened in iowa. you spent a lot of time on the ground. i've seen you campaign both in iowa and new hampshire. i thought you were doing really well on the retail campaign front. what do you think happened in iowa? >> i'm not disappointed by iowa. are you kidding? i beat mike huckabee who was polling way above me and has now withdrawn the race. i beat kasich and christie who spent a lot more money than i did and at least in the case of christie had the backing of the governor. i'm tied with jeb bush who spent tens of millions of dollars. i came from 17 out of 16, less than 4% of voters had ever heard my name. eight people have now dropped. many, many governors among them and i'm continuing to build support and momentum and really looking forward to tuesday. >> let me ask you about what you want out of new hampshire. obviously you want a spark. define that spark. >> i need to exceed expectations here, and i've exceeded expectation

ms. fiorina.hrink the federal government by 30% in the next two years and those jobs will not be filled and you dual it through retirement. your critics would argued that's when you did at hewlett packard when 30,000 people lost their jobs. if it did not work at hp why would it work at the federal government. >> first of all i haven't said that. in the process of examining every dollar, cutting any dollar, and moving every dollar we happen to know in this vast federal bureaucracy we have about 260,000 federal government employees who are going to retire. and we shouldn't replace them. secondly, at hewlett packard, as you know, the people of iowa know. this we went through a tough time. the wors7 technology recession in 2 5 years a great company called gateway use to do be here in iowa. they didn't make the tough calls necessary to save all those jobs and so they lost every one of those jobs. yes, i have had to make some tough calls. we saved 80,000 jobs. we went on to grow to 160,000 jobs. and, fr
