ms. foxx: thank you, madam speaker. as i sit here and listen to my colleagues across the aisle, i want to remind them that the american people showed on november 2 they are not buying the class warfare that our friends are still trying to sell. we are a month away fromtax increase that is will hit every american taxpayer. the obama-pelosi-reid spending spree that's racked up $6.1 trillion in federal spending in 22 months is about to hand the american people a massive tax increase. democrats had jorts in both houses in congress until january and there is time for them to do something to stop the $3.9 trillion tax increases. but so far all we are seeing on the agenda is more spending. republicans are ready to work in a bipartisan way to stop these tax increases and cut spending. but the president and congressional democrats don't take action before the end of the year to stop all -- the new house majority will in january. the speaker pro tempore: the gentlelady's time has expired. for what purpose does the gentleman from

ms. foxx: thank you, madam speaker. i realize that we are here to debate something other than the continuation of the tax cuts and staving off the tax increases which are coming right around the corner. however it's important that we continue to remind the american people that our colleagues across the aisle continue to refuse to deal with what's the most important issue that we need to be dealing with. instead we are here day after day, day after day, naming post offices and celebrating anniversaries of sports figures when our colleagues have known that the tax increases were going to occur on january 1, 2011 since that bill was passed. they have been in control for four years and they have refused to deal with it. furthermore, we haveal president and congress of the same party. they both know this had to be dealt with but they seem to want to leave everything until the last possible minute and then blame republicans because something isn't being done. well, ladies and gentlemen, that is just not the case. our colleagu

ms. foxx: thank you, madam speaker. when i first ran for public office in 1994, i said then that we have too much government. we still have too much government. in fact, we have way more government than we had then and it's too much. but republicans have been listening to the american people who agree with us that we have too much government, and we have made a pledge to america to reduce the role of the federal government in our lives. we invite you to look at the pledge to america that republicans took last fall. we believe it's had a major impact on the election that was held in november, but we promise is that we are going to fulfill that pledge and reduce the role of the federal government in our lives and take our country back to what it was meant to be. i yield back, madam speaker. the speaker pro tempore: the gentlelady's time has expired. pursuant to clause 8 of rule 20, the chair will postpone further proceedings today on motions to suspend the rules on which a recorded vote or the yeas and nays are ordered or
