ms. mendoza, ms. nortaon, ms wynns, mr. yee. that is unanimous. [cheers and applause] president yee: incoming superintendent carranza, you have the floor. incoming superintendent carranza: i think this will be the last time i will have this. i want to thank you for this honor, and i want to thank the gentleman who has been a mentor to me, because my father is no longer here, like a second father, superintendent garcia, who has absolutely demonstrated that you lead by being a servant leader, and how you lead. our superintendent has started this. and leading into the future. and i'd probably say that i spent one decade in the classroom, teaching young minds and helping to shape the world that they view. as a superintendent principal and now as a superintendent in the future, it will be the focus of a teacher. how do you shape and help provide opportunities? in many instances, a world that we do not even know what it is going to look like in the future. that is what is wonderful about this opportunity in san francisco. san francisco never settles for

ms. mendoza, thank you for being here. i also want to thank members of the public for commenting today and your patience over these past many years. your patience in working with my office over the past two years as well. i think we could have moved more quickly along at times. i know there is a lot of anxiety about how to create this office, moving forward. i think we're in a good spot right now. the stress of an independent office attached to one of these departments is the way to go. i believe the stakeholders, in carrying out these services at the department had level, within the department, have a lot to offer. in this process of coming together to create this office, i really believe strong dialogue, listening, and meaningful input -- which is heard and acted upon -- will be essential to make sure we create an office that will be able to stand alone and do the work and needs to do to create all of these efficiencies for the field that we need to create. so i want to thank you for bringing folks together. i would ask

ms. hydra mendoza, the mayor's education adviser. please welcome her to the stage. >> thank you. how are you doing? are you doing as well in school as you are doing on the field? are you doing as well in school as you are doing for others? are you doing as well in school as you are doing as leaders? because we are counting on you. we are counting on you in so many ways. we are investing in you and we are appreciating and supporting everything you do. the one thing i want you to think about is, as you are doing or community service, writing letters to people who need your support and love and care, think about how this would make you feel if someone was doing it for you. that is what a big heart is and that is exactly what you have them -- what you have demonstrated here today on the steps of city hall. all of us are very proud of you. keep up the good work. i think we also need to do a big shot to state farm because they are also investing in everything that you are doing from your hearts to the hearts of others. let's give them a big hand for investing in you. i just want to say
