ms. wasserman schultz, for five minutes. ms. wasserman schultz: thank you very much, mr. speaker. i rise today to express strong support for the people in the nation of israel and to wholly condemn the horrific attacks of innocent civilians. my heart goes out to the families of the victims. all people have the right to live in peace and security and every nation has a right to take actions to protect its citizens. as chaos envelopes israel from all borders, we must stand with our strongest ally in the region. over the past month, unprovoked palestinian attacks against israeli civilians, including children, police officers and members of the i.d.f., have increased to shocking levels. perhaps even more disturbing are the palestinian leadership's recent incitements to violence. in his september 30 address, palestinian authority leader mahmoud abbas said they will no longer be bound by the oslo accords. they ambushed two jewish israelis murdering them in front of their children. since then, barbaric attacks including stabbings, rock-throwing and deliberate car crashes have become all

[applause] as i was standing backstage and thinking about what words come to mind when i think about lincoln chafee, class act was the first one that jumped into my mind. i want to share with you in a trip down memory lane what it was like when i heard that lincoln chafee decided to become a democrat. that was a big deal. when he joined our party, he made it clear that his former party had left him and they had gotten too extreme for him to be comfortable remaining as republican. lincoln chafee has been a public servant on conscience. he has stood strong and used his voice and made sure that the people of his state, the great state of rhode island, when he was governor, had governors who knew it was important to invest in education, to stand up and make sure that people who had no voice had his. and to make sure he sounded a clarion call for peace as he did here with us this morning. i thank lincoln chafee

[cheering and applause] mston: i want to say another word about a great democrat -- vice president joe biden has been in the trenches with us for years. [cheering and applause] ms. clinton: he fought for the violence against women act and so much more. i am confident that history is not finished with joe biden. as he said the other day, there is more work to do and if i know joe, he will be right there with us on the front lining. i want to thank all of you for putting women's voices, women's ideas, women's lives right where they belong, at the heart of women's politics. it is sometimes hard to believe, but the notion that women should be equal partners is still pretty new. that's why the women's leadership form was created, -- forum was created, to help make that ideally reality. during the 1992 campaign, tipper gore and i traveled all over the country together and we spent a lot of time in people's living rooms, their backyards, sitting around kitchen tables, talking with mothers, daughters, and grandmothers
