i want to thank ms. wu for putting replication forward. it is not easy to go through this process where you have to come to rules committee meeting and, you know, have this kind of discussion, but i do want to say thank you to anyone who wants to serve the city. they should be thanked. one of the things i always want to make sure happens with respect to planning is making sure that, in an addition to playing the role that you have to play as a planning commissioner, you know, making sure that you apply the planning code and all the relevant notes and make the best decision possible, that you take into account community input in doing that. i am wondering if you can say a little bit about that, because that is something that is a big priority for us on the board of supervisors. if you can say a little bit about how you approach your role with respect to that? >> sure, that is most definitely been a priority for me. i came into planning work wanting to connect grass-roots groups to planning. i think that it is important for the planning depa

i guess this could be fourfor ms. wu. what is the procedure for the san francisco police department and the d.a. and is a public? >> it is public. there are external and internal policies for bringing forward materials that would affect the credibility of witnesses i hate -- credibility of witnesses. from the crime lab scandal -- >> situation. situation. i will use the word situation. in particular, and it is all known to the public -- this man had a conviction out of san mateo we had not learned about. we could not cross-examine on that. and that was a problem. it was a problem immediately addressed. so, i talked to a lot of other g-8's offices to find out how -- d.a.'s offices throughout the state to find out how they dealt with this. i find that a lot of offices across the state rely on that type of relationship. given the situation occurred with the crime lab, we needed to absolutely do more, and what we did is create a policy where they did, and i think it may have been cheap gas than -- chief gaston at the time were

[applause] >> ms. wu, when your department, the district attorney's office discovers an office -- an officer has been untruthful or is abusing power, do you have a policy in place for reporting this? or is there just an understanding, or how does your office deal with this? >> i also think everyone for having me here today. i could not agree more with the panelists to spoke before me. i say this to young lawyers all the time in our office. all we are is our integrity. all we are is our ability to communicate and put forth evidence to juries, and we have to rely on that. we have to rely on integrity. it is difficult when these situations happen. i was really involved with the crime lab cases and the allegations against the criminals. i've been very involved in the allegations regarding some of these search and seizure issues, and i am just now becoming involved with the cases of potential theft. and all these are allegations. what is difficult, i think, for prosecutors in our office -- we find folks to be

i wanted to ask you something similar to what i asked ms. wu before, and that is the community perspective and as matters come before you, how you take that into account. i know that you have a long history of working in different capacities in the community, and i just want to make sure that people who perhaps may not know that can here from you -- can hear from you directly on that. >> absolutely. as i said, i have worked and lived in the city and county of san francisco for close to 20 years now. and i have lived in many different neighborhoods. i currently reside in glen park. i have certainly experienced many, many different challenges in its living in a city such as ours. and i think that my dedication to public service stems from the belief that we should all feel that this is our city, that this is a place that belongs to everyone no matter who you are or what your income level is, what york races, with your sexuality is. that is my dedication to public service as an attorney, and i believe that is what i could bring to the board of app
