mt. pocono. off to a cold start. it will be cold as we head throughout the afternoon before we start a big-time warm-up by wednesday. outside we are seeing some clouds this morning. depending on where you are, we're seeing more clouds in spots than others. everyone, though-see more clouds than sunshine throughout the day. 29 right now in philadelphia, winds out of the north-northwest at 6 miles per hour. and right now we're seeing clouds in reading, also in philadelphia, even seeing some fog and mist in reading. temperatures mainly in the 20s. 26 in atlantic city. and here is all that blue on the map indicating all that cold air this morning. 30 in allentown, 22 in west chester. right at the freezing mark in mt. holly and temperatures in the 20s mainly to the south and east of philadelphia. as well, 24 in millville and 26 in atlantic city. so, a cold start to the day. we're going to be cold today before we start that warm-up. there is that cold air in place today, monday. and then we're going to call it cool tomorrow

mt. pocono has good visibility at 3 miles. and 5-mile visibility for wilmington. just light fog for northeast philadelphia, mt. holly and wrightstown. yesterday during the morning hours, we saw dense fog in dover, millville, atlantic city, but right now, 5 to 6-mile visibility, looking good. we'll see sunshine today. the fog will leave us and the wind will be picking up, too. a breezy day ahead. the first alert traffic report right now with jillian mele. good morning, jillian! >> good morning to you, bill. we're following some overnight construction out there. pretty typical construction for drivers in new jersey. 295 southbound, the off-ramp to route 42 is blocked until about 5:00 this morning due to the road work in that area. and speaking of road work, we also have some on 76. this is the westbound side right at 30th street. it's out there once again this morning. and behind this truck, that's where the right lane is blocked. it's not really causing a delay, but it's still something for you to be aware of. and 76, i mentioned we have that construction westbound.

mt. pocono, below freezing in mt. holly at 31, and we're looking at 20s in parts of south jersey, also delaware, 26 in dover and 24 degrees in millville. so, there's that cold start. we're also seeing reduced visibilities to the north and west of philadelphia, down to 5 miles in mt. pocono, 4 in l lancaster and 5 miles in reading. that's because we have low clouds in place, some drizzle and also some fog. so, just keep that in mind as you head out this morning. everywhere else we're looking pretty good. looking at satellite and radar, looking at dry conditions for now, but down to the south is moisture and this will affect us into the afternoon to evening hours. showers once again on tuesday. then wednesday is the day to watch with a chance for heavy rain. tricky travel on wednesday. could see over an inch of rain in some spots and winds gusting over 20 miles per hour. but for today, mostly cloudy and cold, 38 to 41. temperatures right around normal for this time of year. typically, we come in at 43. milder on tuesday

visibility is down to a quarter of a mile in the poconos, down to 3 miles in trenton and mt. holly. atures show we're at 40 degrees in the poconos, mid-40s for trenton, 47 degrees in mt. holly, close to 50 degrees in atlantic city. that's just the beginning of all the warmer air that's going to move up from the south. also coupled with the rainfall that we're going to see continuing throughout today. so, moderate rain already pushing into parts of the suburbs here near norristown, just to the south of milford. chester heights seeing moderate to heavy rainfall. pockets of heavy rain coming down into wilmington, and all this rain is coming up from the south and also moving in with the system from the midwest. that's going to continue for us as we head into the rest of your morning hours. by 10:00 a.m., heavier rain is expected, especially closer to the shore and parts of south jersey. as we push into the rest of the afternoon, on-and-off rainfall is expected, even as we head into your evening hours. another line of rain is going to develop closer to 1:00 a.m. and lingering rain showers

mt. pocono, below 2 miles in allentown. same thing in reading, close to 1 mile just for the visibility, 1/2 mile in lancaster, 4 miles in pottstown, 5 in wilmington and 3 miles in dover. so, needless to say, if you're in any of these areas, you do want to allow a little extra time, go a little slower as you're heading to work. we're also dealing with wet roads from the light rain moving through our region. right now, 34 degrees in the poconos, 37 in allentown, 39 in quakertown, high 30s in doylestown, 41 in philadelphia, 39 in washington township, 44 in mt. holly. and closer to the shore, we're in the low 40s. avalon at 42 degrees. heading into the rest of today, we'll continue to see our wind speeds coming up from the southwest. gusty wind speeds pushing into the rest of your afternoon. we'll see winds gusts sustained closer to 25 miles per hour, gusting up to 27 in atlantic city and breezy conditions expected in the poconos. satellite/radar shot shows those light showers moving up from the southwest along with a warm fron

mt. pocono, freezing rain advisory for tonight just in the poconos for a little bit of light freezing rainoser to 40 degrees or even above it across most of the area and temperatures are not really going to drop very much overnight tonight. the atmosphere as a whole is going to be warming up considerably. we have just some patchy, very light rain across some of the area. generally in delaware and south jersey. it keeps trying to move up this way but it's moving into drier air and that's why it's not making a lot of progress. it's also very small system. so we're not expecting much rain at all. now, some shopping weather for tomorrow. the issue in the morning will be the fog and drizzle. it will be on the cool side by noon. temperatures are going up a little bit. i think we'll have a couple days of clouds. heres the future cast as we go through the evening hours, patchy, light rain. even in the poconos it may turn to mostly rain as temperatures warm up in the atmosphere. and by morning, a little bit of patchy light rain or drizzle. clouds everywhere. that's going to prevent the temperatures

mt. pocono still reporting freezing rain. temperatures in the upper 20s. like the teens with the winds now switching in from the east/southeast in the poconos around 15 miles an hour, visibility is low. for the rest of us tonight, we expect fog forming. through the lehigh valley, north and west suburbs and the poconos, tonight we have the weather advisory, the winter weather advisory for possible freezing rain which could lead to some icy spots on the roadways as we good through tonight. that is certainly something you want to watch out for. north and west right now, we are below freezing for manufacture these areas, still 31 in allentown, 32 in reading, philadelphia coming in at 38 degrees. much of south jersey and delaware in about the mid to upper 40s in some spots closer to the shore. most of us are either seeing drizzle or some very light rain. however, we do have more moisture moving in to the areas that have temperatures at or below freezing. 78 towards berks county, hamburg, greenwich, seeing possible freezing rain in this area. this is one of the

we're up ten degrees in the poconos, up five in allentown, five degrees warmer mt. holly and we're about eight degrees warmer in atlantic city. our visibility in the poconos down to 1/4 mile. we're down to 3/4 mile in allentown, so it's gone down in the last hour or so. 2 1/2 miles in reading. improving conditions in philadelphia and in pottstown, but in lancaster we're down to 3 miles. same thing in millville. clear skies, or clear conditions, i should say, for atlantic city. but we're still going to be dealing with the showers on and off throughout today. our average for this time of year is 49 degrees. by today we're warming above average to 53. heading into tomorrow, 48. there is a closer look at where the scattered showers are. so, pockets of light rainfall moving into parts of norristown and philadelphia. we'll continue to see this moisture streaming up from the southwest. and as we push into the rest of today, we'll see pockets of heavy rainfall closer to 1:00, 2:00, and then we'll see clearing heading into this afternoon and evening. by thursday, 48 degrees.

mt. pocono 18 degrees and we still have a breeze 23 in philadelphia and feels like 25 in sea isle city and 21 in dover. and satellite 6 along with action radar showing any clouds even close to us today just eroding and moving away from us high pressure is in control and this brings us a dry start to the new year however i am watching a storm system moving in over the weekend, this is bringing quite a bit of snow to the southwest. bob one of our "action news" viewers he is loyal and is arizona right now watching 6 abc and took this picture about 50 miles northwest of phoenix with the snow on the ground and the cacti looking unusual with the snow on it. as far as our new year's day there are five pollar plunges at the jersey shore. it's 40 and breezy and winds west at 20 miles per hour. so the windchill will be 27 degrees so good luck to people doing the polar plunge i hope you have a nice warm jacket. on friday we rebound to 44 degrees and high, thin clouds from the south and this low pressure is from the southwest it gathers strength in the gulf of mexico and this is tracking to the west.
