june 30, 2024, and along with the extension of the permit term for the scooter share program, the mta board also added specific sidewalk detection requirement tuesday the transportation code at that same time. prior to this, the mta had not set specific requirements, because the technology is so new, but we had requested that applicants propose solutions to sfmta on how they would handle safe riding, safe scooter riding, and since they submitted those applications and we selected the existing permitees, mta has been working with the permitees to test and demonstrate and develop best practices on sidewalk detection technology, so this past april as mentioned the mta board approved the specific requirements now which are in the transportation code. we currently have two scooter share permitees, (indiscernible) last time we were before you there were three scooter share permitees, bird was the third. bird decided to stop providing service in san francisco in february, so currently we have spin and lime in the program. as i mentioned, the program evaluation is underway, and our overarching goal

facing pushback tonight, we learned this week r sf mta will extend parking meter hours to 10 at night monday through saturday. plus and hours on sunday boardrvisors, president aaron peskin is now trying to block the new changes from taking effect and he's getting support from the city's restaurant industry kron four's justine waltman joins us now from the newsroom with their reaction to ken and pam. what the golden gate restaurant association is asking for is a seat at the table to discuss how this parking price increase would impact the > hospitality industry in the city. sfmta says it is facing 130 million dollar deficit in 18 million dollars can come from changing the parking meter costs and hours, which would avoid cutting meeting lines. the city's leading restaurant group is pushing back against starting this plan so soon saying the industry is hurting and wants a pause on this plan until it can better understand the impacts. >> and it just feels like we were blindsided by this. we really need to take a pause and we need to sit down and we need to do some real discussions about whether we should be raising money right now. in this tim
