i am encouraged the mtc is taking steps to address these issues on their own. i hope this will assure the public the mtc is taking steps to protect their privacy. it is more stringent than cell phone plans which allow cell phone companies to sell their information, which is not the case. most of us are carrying around smart phones which are far more effective at tracking our every move than clipper cards. a recently designed smart phone application allows the phone to scan the clipper card and transmit information. it can be used without the clipper card's user's knowledge or permission. people can protect themselves from this by storing their clipper cards in a bag or somewhere, where it would be difficult for someone else to place a smart phone within a few inches of the card thus perhaps getting that information. the resolution addresses this issue. with the resolution, and i have an amendment of the whole that i have passed on to the clerk, it actually includes amendments that have been proposed by the mtc, we definitely wanted to work with the mtc on their

and i voted for that at the mtc.it despite my concerns about the programs because a, i was representing san francisco which is on record supporting the program, but also, because this was not operating money. this was lifeline money. so i supported it there. this is different. this is money that can be used improvements. and instead, we're using it for what is a program that i will acknowledge has benefits. i'm not in any way trashing this program. i think there are benefits to it. but it is not going to improve our system. and instead, i think what will happen is once this pilot ends, there is no way that the pilot won't be renewed or made permanent. and as i mentioned yesterday in committee, we will hear from seniors and disabled people well if you're going to give it to the youth why not seniors and disabled who are equally deserving. and we will see a renewed and permanent and perhaps even larger program with very laudable goals that will take more and more muni maintenance and operating eligible money to fundg:z

first of all happy to announce the couple of awards, recognition that the agency has received, the mtc, metropolitan transportation committee presented the sfmta with excellent emotion award for sf park, and also -- the annual award program the mtc puts on, we were fortunate to be recognized for two different programs. also eric williams, the president of 258 and i attended an event of the san francisco museum and historical society, when both muni for its 100 anniversary and the market street railway received awards of merit from that society. get to get positive recognition for the history of muni which again came forth last week when the put car 26 back into service. moving on, one bike issue, jfk cycle track that went in the early this year - i know there were a lot of concerns about it. there was a lot of back-and-forth, engagement of different stakeholders to approve the design and address concerns. we have gone back to conduct a survey to see how the traffic for cars, pedestrians, bikes, people with disabilities has changed since the installation of the cycle track. i will menti
