he shot mullins after an argument inside the judge's chambers. we know that he turned himself in and he was arrested shortly after the incident, and that there were no no one else that was injured in this shooting, and that he has been charged with one count of first-degree murder. now well, fred electric county is a very small community in kentucky, 1,700 people live in the county. and that means that these two men were very prominent figures in the community. the law enforcement community certainly knew and worked with them. in fact, the commonwealth's attorney for letcher county has said that he will recuse himself from this case because he worked and knew both men and he cited family ties to judge mullins as well. now the sheriff sheriff stines is expected to appear in court next week. he has been transferred to another location about 100 miles away. a from letcher county. the courtroom where he would have had to appear for this arraignment is of course, the place where this crime allegedly took place. and the judge that would have presided o

that is judge mullins right there. 54 years old.r about 15 years for a decade prior to that. was a prosecutor there in letcher county, kentucky, population 21,000 people, so you're talking about a small town. in terms of where we stand right now with the investigation, kentucky state police say that they are in the process of looking into whether or not witnesses might have some insight here. they said there were people inside the courthouse, but not specifically in the chamber, so they're interviewing them. there was video surveillance as well, though, state police couldn't exactly identify where in the courthouse that video might exist, but it could be material to the investigation. and they also said, jose, that there was a short argument prior to the shooting, so it might not necessarily have been spontaneous. was this a situation where there was personal animus or personal situation involved? it doesn't appear to be likely that it is a product of the climate of political violence that we're seeing right now. that's an open ende
