commissioner murase: i just want to thank michele very much for your service. i had the privilege of serving with you on the parent of kaiser council. you really did give 110% to the organization. i do want to respectfully disagree that all of the discussions at the general meetings were not sufficiently recognized. there are specific examples for the proposal changed. one is siblings were moved up in terms of priority. second, the start date of the middle school feeder was pushed back to six years. third, there was a real commitment, and i think we can all recall a firm commitment, to getting the district to articulate plans at the middle school level not just for language but also for owners, music, visual, and performing arts. those are three small examples of the way in which the hundreds of discussions you facilitated made for better policy making. i agree that in the and we did not adopt the full scope of recommendations, but those discussions were really valuable to me as i was looking at the policy decisions. i want to again acknowledge all the work tha

commissioner murase: i also want to thank all the members of your committee. i know it's a big time commitment, it's a lot of work. and thank you in particular for your recommendations. i want to follow up on senator fewer's suggestion about getting an inventory. i would like to know where the elacs are functioning, where there is none. but also whether it's been delegated to the s.f.c. or not. because i think there is this issue of once it's been delegated how do you get it back? by school. because there's some accountability here, right? principals are responsible for complying with this requirement and i think it's up to us to really make sure that that's happening. finally for members of the audience, if you could please announce your meeting time and place because your meetings are presumably open to the public with translation, so we want to make that an opportunity for folks to participate in. >> we do send out our information to each school. when we have the meeting, time and place and location. the problem is some of the school principal is not passin

i think that commissioner murase points out a few things that could possibly generate a few things. i think if we were to take a more aggressive look at keeping our kids in school and reducing the chronic absenteeism, as was discussed last week, we are finding out there has been some impact in terms of the kind of revenues would generate, just because kids are staying in school more days. i think there is still a big gap between what could be accomplished and what we have accomplished, in terms of absenteeism. that is one thing. i guess i can itself empower. i had some questions on page 46. is it ok? can i deviate from this discussion? page 46 of the new budget booklet. i noticed that on page 46, on the proposed budget for 2011 and 12, there were some words that were changed and i could not figure out why they were changed. the revenues went up. it was not by much, but it went up by $300,000 or so. i do not know where that came from. the expenses went down i guess $2.50 million. i am just curious. where did we cut? and there is i guess the revenue -- these numbers below would be rel
