. >> senator murphy? >> i thank you very much mr. chair. my mind goes back to our credit card discussion earlier in year. i had magui from salem, oregon, who had had a credit card account for 15 years, always paid on time. couldn't believe it when they said she had a late payment. they called up and the credit card representative checked and said here's the thing. we got your payment on time but if you'll notice in the contract, we can sit on the payment for 10 days and we did and when we posted it it's nour late and there's a late fee. and magui said i think the phrase that captures the sense of millions of americans, how can that be fair? that's the same standard of reasonableness and fairness that we need to bring to this conversation. i think any bang customer who finds out that their bank has reordered their transactions in order to multiply the number of overdraft fees they're being charged would say how can this be fair? certainly this is an important conversation. i'm pleased to be a co-sponsor and i look forward to the testimony. >
