democratic senator chris murphy of connecticut joins me now. senator murphy, good to see you.ving me. >> so president biden was in maine on friday to tout his recent economic successes as we talked with governor christie and the gdp report was very good and the american people are still rating the economy poorly. what's the disconnect? >> well, the economy is booming right now. you're talking about unemployment under 4%. you're seeing a reduction in inflation that's outpacing all of our other global competitors, gdp rising. one of the stunning statistics from the second quarter is that a, gdp grew by 2.5%, but 25% of that growth was due to factory construction, and so that means that this isn't just a short-term improvement in the economy. we are bringing back manufacturing jobs. we are going to be putting people back to work in jobs that have real wages, pensions, benefits and that's a transformation of the economy not just a band-aid, but i get it. people listened to donald trump, say that he was going to re-industrialize the economy. he was going to bring back manufacturing

governor phil murphy said a top priority for him as outgoing chair of the association has been mental health. he explained why this is an important issue and how governors across the nation are addressing it. >> last month, the cdc released new data showing suicide rates among the 10 24 age group reached a 20-year high in the year 2020 one. earlier this year, the cdc issued a study on mental health trends over the past decade among school-aged youth that found nearly 1/3 of teens -- >> what started off as -- [indiscernible] >> i will fight for you with every bone in my body and never, ever let you down.

governor murphy we will so hudson learnings along the way. can we do some of those reflections for you? >> in the interest of the, clock the biggest reflection or reaction i think is ultimately a good thing, is that strengthening youth mental health is not doctoral calculus. we know exactly what we need to do and i think the same can be said of infinite maternal health. we know exactly what works. the question is, can we share best practices, i mentioned utah and colorado. two examples of initiatives. it's initiatives i had no history with. what we know do, their actions taken with many other states. share best practices, execute execute execute. there is, i think, the reality of funding on some of these steps i mentioned. we had four pillars of 13 subgroups and 35 specific steps. some of those are literally free of charge, same thing is true in the infinite maternal side and some of the costs money. if russians do we have a will to execute students do we have the will to fund? i agree with all of. that this is not like a pandemic we don't ha

governor murphy used to be a bigwig at goldman. banking pals while whales are dying and the fishermen get hosed. which by the way the biden administration is blaming the fishermen, not the wind projects, for the dead whales. they are restricting fishing access and saying the fishing boats and all the boats can't go so fast on the water. deep-sea fishing captain dylan hubbard joins me now. what kind of restrictions is biden throwing at you guys? >> so, this current petition is proposing a 10 nautical mile per our speed limit over a wide swath of our eastern gulf of mexico, an area in which 50 million angler trips are occurring and a lot of people access the fishery, our economy, the hole southeast region is driven by recreational boating. it's a $214 billion industry and this has a huge impact proposed and basically closing an area from 100 to 400 meters deport 1300 feet per it would essentially not allowed transit at night there it would require visual observers and it would require a lot of arduous regulations for really no purpos

in the murphy administration has a pretty far left radical idea to get to 100% other by 2035. the board of public utilities has indicated that nuclear energy is, in fact, carbon neutral and clean energy. it makes absolutely no sense, and here we are quite literally bailing out a foreign corporation on the backs of the rate payers of the state of new jersey. this is 100% wholly unfair and it must be really nice to have a corporation big enough that you can have your investment protected by the rated payers who can barely afford to pay their bills already. >> steve: well, and the problem for you and the people on your side is the governor, phil murphy, who you mentioned a moment ago who if joe biden didn't run for president, phil murphy would, he's going to sign it and it's just going to become law. real quick. >> it absolutely will be the law and unfortunately this got shoved down the throats of the taxpayers and the rate pairs of the state of new jersey. and that's why we need to see change in the great garden state. >> steve: indeed right. michael testa jr. sir thank you very
