museum of natural history in new york. to kick things off, meet the first young wonder, sidney keys iii. he loves to read, and for that he is lucky. he is 11 years old, around the age research suggests boys especially lose interest in reading. one point sidney had a hard time finding books that mirrored his experience. that changed when he visited a local bookstore in st. louis. its focus, african-american children's books. sidney's world opened up, starting a new chapter in his passion for reading. when he saw the wide range of books reflecting kids like him, it sparked an idea to share stories of culture and history with his peers. didn't take long for his monthly reading club "books n bros" to take off. no surprise. you see yourself in books and believe your stories you're telling, your imagination has no boundaries. >> i am 11 years old. this is my first year in middle school. how i would describe myself? um, i don't know. >> i would say sidney is encouraging. motivating. he's a leader. >> he knows what he wants. he is one of a few unique kids that happens to thrive. >> he is a quirky kid but he is cool with that. lot of kids spend time trying to be things they're not.
