i want to bring in mya rodriguez in corpus christi. mya, what are you seeing right now as far as the damage? >> well, you know, as you mentioned, we are expecting sunrise to come shortly and hopefully help illuminate some of what we're seeing. all we can see right now is through our headlights. obviously power is out for a number of people in koshus christy. we are seeing a lot of downed palm fronds. we will we have not seen structural damage yet in town. but it's difficult to see these things. sometimes there's damage on the roof and you can't quite see that from the ground level when it is so dark. this is a challenge that city officials are having to deal with, as well. they try to make their way around town. you know, we still do have, at the very least, tropical storm force winds consistently going on right now, kind of rocking the vehicle as we make our way. and so what, you know, this is something that, again, city officials will have to deal with as they try to ascertain exactly what happened here, exactly what kind of damage w

we have mya rodriguez, bill karen is here in studio with me. all these rescues happening as the rain continues to fall. we got to get to the forecast. this is going to get worse before it gets better, right? >> yes. overnight two feet of rain fell in some of these areas. he can't move to show you the worst of it. it's a lot worst in all areas. there are some coast guard helicopters that are up rescuing people from roof tops. overwhelmed with calls. these are just some of the images. this is i. 610, the main loop around the city of houston and this looks like the mississippi river. this is supposed to be a highway. you can't even tell what you're looking at in that picture. i can show you other images too. they're all over the place. this is downtown houston and so this is where the bayou is supposed to be contained. that's where the river is supposed to be. you can see the red light right here, the light pole, it's about half way up that light pole right there. just to give you a perspective, this is overflooded the banks of the bayou and into

mya is in houston. there's a three hour flash flood warning that's in effect right now as the sun is about to set on day two of the effects of harvey, what have you been seeing? >> well, you heard that plea from officials about wanting people to bring their personal boats to rescue others who are trapped basically on the roofs of their home. they've been working to pluck people that have been waiting since early this morning. we were in one houston suburb where 150 people have already been rescued and other 200 were waiting. fire officials were going to be working through the night trying to get all of these people off their homes. that's when we saw neighbors stepping in bringing their personal water crafts, anything they had, we saw people with canoes launching into creeks to try to get to these people who needed their help. as you can imagine the rain here has been relentless. it's been raining continuously for hours upon hours. you can see the creeks rising, you can see water rushing over the roads,

meanwhile, mya rodriguez is joining us now by phone. you have been covering the rescue efforts all morning. i saw you talking to a cup until a car a little earlier. they said they don't have help in their home. they believe they have food until saturday, what else are you hear something. >> we're hearing from all kinds of people out here. you heard from houston's major and police chief, and they're trying to make head way. there is about 185 that are still sort of outstanding in the area, but there have been shows of water rescues so far here in the houston meth row area. people trapped on their roofs and in their hooms. one message we want to get out to part-time is we're n to let people know, we're coming to get you. they did not think it would be flooded this way. a lot of people went to bed thinking everything will be fine. some were trapped on their roofs for hours. five, six, seven, eight, 12 hours. people bringing private boats here trying to rescue people. taking it upon themselves to help their neighbors and get them out again.

. >> mya now is it there and what are you seeing in terms of winds? >> the wind is definitely stillic canning here, richard and melissa. the storm made a second landfall just north of us, capano bay, the winds at one point were coming from behind us, they short of siftd, that's to be expected. and it is definitely hurricane force winds that we are seeing out here. the rain has let up slightly in the last hour or so. as you know, those forecasters are putting the rainfall here in feet. there are about 158,000 people in the corpus christi area that no longer have power. you can see some of the lights behind me. those people further up the coat in town still have power, but other parts of the city are dark, including us. we are functioning off of fj power right now where we are. the main concern right now, the winds. and what impact that will have on structures here. some of the structures along the beach and coast, these have been built to code, they're pretty secure, concrete structures. but further inland, that's the big question. when daylight comes,

mya rodriguez is there for us now.u and a very different charlottesville than you saw when you were there this time last weekend. what's it like there now? >> reporter: it is a complete change from what we saw just a week ago here in charlottesville during that violent rally. the mayor here in charlottesville is now stepping up and asking state lawmakers to help the city to remove this statue of robert e. lee. it's a change of heart for the mayor because back in february the city council voted 3-2 to remove this statue. the mayor was one of the two votes against removing the statue. after last weekend's violent rally, the mayor said he had a change of heart. he was deeply affected and moved by what happened. take a listen. >> i don't think they're safe here. i don't think that they are appropriate in our civic spaces, downtown. and i'm going to support the call of lots of other officials that they should be moved out of civic spaces. >> reporter: however, there is a problem with this statue. it's tied up in a lawsuit r
