torrential rains in myrtle beach.lood warnings and roads additionally being flooded throughout that region. this map is probably the one that i'm going to record this for myself. this goes over four days and it shows there's joaquin and shows this consistent flow of moisture being drawn from the south into south carolina, and the thunderstorms along with it, that's four days' worth offer represential rain so that's why we saw all the horrible problems there. as far as the pictures go it's not just one spot. that's what makes it so historic, columbia, charleston, georgetown, sumter, conway north myrtle beach. water was everywhere. i feel horrendous for a lot of people. lot of the houses prnt in flood areas. it's required if you're in a flood zone to get flood insurance. the people that don't have flood insurance their claims probably won't be heard from insurance companies. thousands of people with water all in their home. we'll continue to watch that heavy rain threat through the morning, as we go through the afternoo

just south of myrtle beach, georgetown completely submerged. they have been pumping the water back out into the ocean, but an hour ago was high tide. too many water rescues to count right now. five fatalities mainly due to traffic accidents. they're now calling in crews from tennessee because they're overwhelmed by the number of people who still need help. it is coming down. this stream over to columbia, all the rivers have to flow back toward the ocean. so all the water making its way inland has to come back through. river levels right now are at historic readings. surpassing historic readings. and we still have another 6 possibly localized 10 inches of rain in between charleston and miles per ho myrtle beach to contend with. finally, the area of low pressure over alabama will slide off the coast. but we still have our hurricane passing just west of bermuda. they can handle that but the number of moisture will now get closer up the beaches of delmarva. so more flooding will take place as the hurricane does slowly find it way away from the u.s.

this is a spot here in myrtle beach. it's not everywhere you see this. the low-lying neighborhood is what you're seeing here. this has gone down in the last couple of hours. further back in this neighborhood you go, the deeper this water gets. we just got back from a canoe ride, going to see the rest of this neighborhood. as you're looking at pictures, you have to remember the water is four, five inches higher this morning. it varies a lot. you have one home that got any water inside. another home, has a couple feet indoors. you can see when this rain started coming yesterday, you had people trying to hurty up and get out of the neighborhood. they didn't make it in time in their cars and they got stuck in the roadways. the fire department in myrtle beach had to come out to evacuate a lot of folks here. now they're going in and out through this neighborhood in either big cars or canoes, which is the mode of transportation to grab groceries and other folks to check on their homes and see how things are. this is -- the latest update we have through the nati

we drove from myrtle beach this morning and there were several inches of water on the highway similar to where i'm standing right now. you had to drive extremely carefully. we had several cars that had pulled over because the water was too high and in some parts he had to cross your fingers and just hope that you were going to make it through. despite those conditions, we saw a lot of drivers that were speeding not something you want to see considering that in the past two days, there had been at least three weather related traffic fatalities in south carolina alone. once we got here to georgetown, a lot of the road ares with shut down, we've seen a lot of emergency teams scattered through the city. office of emergency management told us that they have completed more than 70 rescues getting people out of their homes since 4:00 this morning. aside from that there is a lot of ancillary issues, things like structure fires and gas leaks that have caused problems for first responders. we spoke to two people who were working an ambulance, they told us they had been going for more than 24 ho
