our own sue serio is in myrtle beach she'll have live reports beginning tomorrow morning during goodor you are are a. here's the bottom line. the wind threat is low, rain is a moderate threat for our area and in particular down the shore and a little farther inland the highest risk out of arthur for us, however, will be rough surf and rip currents. take a look at the wind foreca forecast. you can see this system as it continues to move up the coast. during the day tomorrow afternoon. tropical storm force winds to impact sections of myrtle beach and then the bulls eye if you will hatteras could experience hurricane force winds as we move into your friday morning time frame but this system is going to stay over 200 miles away from us. so wind is going to be the lowest threat with this system. however, rainfall the first half of the day on friday. that is a concern for the fourth of july. so the later your plans, the better off you are as far as experiencing that dry weather. but the rip current risk is going to be high friday as well as most of the upcoming weekend. what about the next

in south carolina, right around myrtle beach, this will be active for the next 24 to 48 hours that the storm begins to push north. these are the pressure lines. you can see where that storm is, slowly turn together northeast. now it will start to turn more and go right along the coast of south carolina and north carolina, this is thursday night, or thursday morning. throughout thursday night it approaches north carolina and around the fourth of july it will likely infence tie with a hurricane and we'll continue to see this southeast east win, coastal flooding, wind damage, and maybe isolated tornadoes as the storm passes by early friday and continuing to move off friday afternoon. so not the best timing fourth of july weekend. thursday at 8:00, 80 mph winds. friday, 8:00, 85 mph winds. this includes portions of north carolina. because the storm tracking in this direction this is the wind direction. you get it coming in from the south an northeast. that's why we'll see coastal flooding here as well as inland flooding and very gusting wind as you see hurrican-force winds along the coast.

where the storm becomes a category 1 hurricane, somewhere in here and runs along the coast between myrtle beach. toward moorehead city. it could be further away, but it's somewhere in the middle probably. we're going to have intense winds and rain. a large area with significant rip currents. this is not a landfall problem hurricane, this is a rip current problem hurricane. we're going to lose people because they're in the ocean, swimming, happy as can be, look at the pretty waves. the problem is when the sand bar breaks, we'll get people torn out to sea. you always see it off shore, it's that lighter area of stand off shore. it comes over the sand bars and plays around here where the people are. when it breaks through here, there is an erosion issue. and the erosion takes the water with it at 35 to 45 miles per hour. and things get sucked out. if you can get here and get back around. but that's not what your body wants to do. it was to fight with because you're getting sucked out to sea. i have down ne it once, it's no fun thing. that's the issue with this and it does not map, except you're doi

showers, not yet reaching myrtle beach. this is expected to hug the coast for the most part for today in the carolinas. we'll see some heavy rain ourselves, but not because of arthur hitting us. so, flashflood watch is in effect, and that is for the whole area, most of today, into tonight, with some heavy seans and thunderstorms moving through. your fox future cast shows maybe left over showers early this morning. otherwise dry. see sunshine actually through most of the day, hot, sticky, then notice some showers, thunderstorms start to move in from the west just like they did yesterday afternoon. heavy showers and thunderstorms will push through this evening. and then try to move off shore later tonight. but into tomorrow, we will see the rain linger as arthur moves northward. those two systems will interact and bring us more rain. seventy-five the temperature outside right now. mainly seeing mid to low 70s, still very humid, warm. your foxcast for today, 91 the high temperature, we've got sun to start, we've got heavy rain

all the way from jacksonville, into myrtle beach and into north carolina itself. as it moves farther to the north, this storm will continue and even put some wave action into probably new england and into maine and boston as it continues to move up. this is a shot from space. pretty cool picture there from tropical storm arthur. cool unless you are underneath it and this would be the peninsula right there. these outer bands getting to the florida coast right now. it gets bigger tonight, turns into a hurricane tonight and tomorrow. that's when it gets to the 85-mile-per-hour hurricane force as it gets very close to north carolina. >> you said rip tides. you talked about currents, winds. give us an idea about the biggest concern with this storm. >> it is without a doubt in my mind it's when the water gets pushed up into these koefs. what you have along here, you'll have the sand bars and they are only out maybe 100 yards, but the water washes over the sand bars. all of a sudden, one of those sand bars breaks and when the sandbar breaks in one spot, all of that water

"i was skeptical at first because most sequels fall flat, but this was a cinematic tour de force. the directing was inspired, the characters were intellectually complex and i haven't seen cinematograhpy this beautiful since jean luc godard's "breathless." i give this film two opposable thumbs up. the orange here, tropical storm warnings south of myrtle beach up through wilmington. but beaufort, you're being looking at hurricane warnings and mandatory evacuations for many places are in place. hatteras is not allowing anyone in or out there. highway 12 is a major concern in terms of wash-over. here's a look at the rainfall we can expect with arthur. in general, 1 to 2 inches as we head up north towards norfolk. there at the outer banks, 3 to 5 inches and certainly coastal flooding will also be an issue, particularly once the storm passes north of hatteras. the winds are going to shift in direction and they are going to become more normally atherly an looking looking a potential of flooding there. 2 to 3 inches of rain as we head into wilmington and myrtle as well. the good news is that after tomorrow morning, all of this does push out to sea and we're looking at clearing skies. but in its wake we'll see very rough seas and that is bad news for vacationers. the rip currents are up this weekend throughout the weekend. stay out of the water, if possible. >> the weat

moving toward the myrtle beach area by thursday afternoon. 80 miles per hour storm and then it continuesn by friday at 2:00 p.m., we're looking at a 90 miles per hour storm but once again it's going to be well aways from our coastline. but we're looking at rip currents as well as some showers early on the fourth of july before this system pulls away and we're looking at a pretty nice weekend for the fourth of july weekend. but as we time everything out, you can see rolling the clock by 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, we're looking at scattered showers and thunderstorms across our area. not related to arthur. by thursday afternoon, 1:00 o'clock, a front approaches our area. we're looking at some heavy rainfall and then we continue to watch arthur as it moves up the coast. this is thursday night. we're looking at heavy rain because of a cold front moving through our area but that front will actually help to kick arthur back out to sea. 5:00 a.m. fourth of july, friday morning, we're looking at clouds, a few showers across the area but this system is pulling away and by 3:00 in the afternoon we're like

the closer view shows you the myrtle beach, wilmington area, this is the eye at the bottom of the screen there so we have another six to ten hours before the worst impacts are beginning to be felt and the winds really increase. again, about 2:00 a.m. is when it should be somewhere over the outer banks and parallel the coast from wilmington up to atlantic beach this evening up until about midnight and that's when we'll do the wind damage and wave damage on the coast. this isn't a huge hurricane. it's not going to have great impact. this is an area of the country it hits all the time. as far as the northeast coast, the cone of uncertainty is off the coast. we're not going to have a direct impact here. because of the horrible thunderstorms we had yesterday in this region, there's so much water in the streams and rivers, we have flood watches from d.c. all the way to the north. we'll get another round of severe storms that are widespread. 52 million people at risk of severe storms from d.c. to virginia, all the way to northern new england. then we're going to add some of the moisture from th

there's the eye of the storm right now moving just to the north of north myrtle beach, i believe, and making the swing up toward wilmington. we have to understand that these waves are going to be coming in for hours and hours and if the eye wall does get to 105 as forecast, that eye wall is going to be right here scouring that southeastern coast of north carolina. it's going to be a very long night for the people there. this is as bad as we have seen all week because it was forecast to be 85, 90. now at over 100 miles per hour. that does a lot more damage, ashleigh. >> i've been watching alina trying to stand up straight and she's doing okay right. now i don't know if you can hear me very well but maybe you can just let me know what you're seeing there in terms of the water conditions, the wind conditions and whether we're seeing that heavy storm surge that causes those deadly rip currents that chad always warns about. >> ashleigh, this is pretty much what we've been seeing for most of the morning but there have been periods of very heavy rain and very strong winds. we do see another

i would love to get your advice on how we can better handle the case management at myrtle beach haven. you said something that intrigued me or made me curious. you said the federal programs -- well, you named them -- welfare and food stamps, you said they're not working. what did you mean by that? >> what i meant was the federal programs in which we have right now, they do work, but the problem is is that once you get to a certain platform you are knocked back down. that is what i was speaking about. i didn't mean they are not working. what i'm saying is they need to be improved. i feel like we need to get a task force -- i'm stating here for the record. we need to get a task force that will pay attention to food stamp programs, to savings, to education, and to medical. they need to be monitored. that's what i meant. >> not just a myriad of unrelated programs that -- you're saying more like case management, right? when you say monitor you mean somebody needs to be looking at them? >> i think someone needs to be looking at them to see how we can improve them, to make sure they're not c
