nancy chen joins us wit nancy. >> nancy: sarah, good morning to you. police in middletown, connecticut, executing a search warrant at the home of nathan carman's mother. linda carman is presumed dead after being lost at sea for with weeks now. last night detectives were inside her home for an hour. we're told they took several items from the home in brown paper bags. what exactly was taken is still unknown. right now law enforcement agencies in four states are trying to figure out what nathan carman was found in a life raft sunday night, reunited with his father and tuesday. but the discovery has also reopened questions about the death of carman's grandfather, who was murdered back in 2013. this morning the "herald" reporting that nathan carman was also a person of interest in her father's death. that's according to carman's former attorney. nathan was also considered a person of interest in that case, but he's never been charged with a crime. he denies any involvement. 7news "today in new england." ism right now police are investigating a violent atta

nancy chen is following the story. >> nancy: sarah, good morning to you. two officers are off the job on tuesday. police say the suspect was not armed but was holding an object in what they call a shooting stance toward officers. the shooting leading to protests outside the police station and also at the scene of the incident. dozens of protesters demonstrating throughout the day on tuesday, alleging that racism caused this man to be killed by police. police releasing this picture. it was taken from cell phone video of the incident. they say it shows a man who was african american pointing an object at officers. one officer then used his stun opened fire and killed the man. police responded to the scene after the man's sister called saying he had been acting strangely and was walking in and out of traffic. and police say they will not be releasing the cell phone video as it is -- as they continue to investigate what happened. nancy chen, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: the presidential election 41 days away. the candidates are back on the campaig
