i'm nancy chen. >> i'm kris an der scone. we are anderson.we are tracking what has been a monster of a storm, hurricane patricia making landfall of mexico, but it's still a big storm. >> it's turned into a rain maker and there's a lot of rain across mexico and texas. it's a category 1 hurricane after making landfall it's it was a category 5 with winds at 165 miles per hour, the pressure is way up. one thing of this hurricane even though it was extremely intense it was fairly small for a hurricane. there was a lot of power packed in within a 15-30-mile radius of this hurricane as it made landfall. the characteristics of a hurricane is that they can pick up a ton of strength quickly, they can also lose a ton of strength quickly. big rain maker for the mountains of mexico, tropical moisture continuing to expand to the northeast. it will be a low as we get into the afternoon and into tonight. however, it does spell problems for texas. there's a front right now across state, a lot of tropical moisture is interacting with that fron

i'm nancy chen. >>> we keep an eye on patricia after it weakens over mexico. doesn't mean the country is out of the clear. this was monster storm that roared onshore. hurricane. at one point the strongest storm ever recorded. it's still bringing rain and heavy wind to region. >>> here's a look mexican coast as the storm came onshore. there's record of flooding and landslides but no fatalities. we talk about landslides and flooding. this becoming more of rain maker than anything else. pores -- miles per hour. what we begin to see the flash flooding in texas. this has been from along the front. south of dallas between dallas and waco between 8 and 17 inches of rain. more flash flooding likely through texas as you can see the stream of tropical moisture from mexico off the gulf of mexico and really hammering portions of loan start state. especially as you go further south now closing in toward austin, texas san antonio into the houston area. this is the remnant low that gets close to gulf of mexico. that will enhance the rain. a good 5 to 10 inches of rain likely

. >> reporter: nancy chen, 7 news today in new england. >> kris: the next story will have you shaking your head. a coat crime caught on camera in new england. two women caught stealing coats from an r.e.i. to store in kranz. video shows the pair going into the store, minutes later they leave carrying those coats right on the hangers that they were hanging up on. police say 14 of those coats were taken from the store, adding up to $4,200 worth of stolen merchandise. they think the alleged shoplifters are part of a larger crime ring. >>> boston police found some illegal dirt bikes in dorchester. officers found the bikes after getting reports of strong gasoline smells coming from heem on adams street. police towed all four of the them. >>> also this morning, officials in texas still investigating what exactly caused the top floor of a dallas parking garage cell phone video that we have this morning, shows some of that damage left behind. witnesses say concrete debris fell and crushed several cars that were on the floors down below, where it fell from. fire-rescue officials say they still
