[laughter] >> yeah. >> of all, today has been a very active day of the just wonderful announcements, of decisions being made that really reflected the values of the city. i have another one that reflects the value of this city, someone that i have spent privileged to work with for so many years, one began her career as a special assistant, worked her way up as the purchaser, director of purchasing. before that, one of the most difficult task, kind of reminds me of my dpw day is, she had a difficult task of being the director of the taxicab administration. [laughter] so she has earned some strides there. going on to director of purchasing and becoming deputy city administrator. most recently, and acting city administrator. and now my nominee for city administrator for the next five years, naomi lelly. -- kellyl. my name is naomi kelly, city administrator for this city and county of san francisco. about three months ago, i had the honor of being on a san bruno avenue with mayor lee when he announced invest in neighborhoods initiative, a program to strategically deployed city resources in our neighborhood commercial corridors more effectively. since then, mayor lee, jennifer from the director of the mayor's office of economic and workforce development, and myself launched the invest in a neighborhood working group, and part of that working group is a committee of representatives of key city departments to my community and business leaders, and technical experts to provide feedback and recommendations that have guided the development of the invest in a neighborhood program model. as you know, in san francisco, we have many programs, many departments, many neighborhood nonprofits that all such our neighborhood commercial corridors. in the past, that we may not have all been on the same page. the invest in a neighborhood initiative was created to corral all the programs departments

i want to recognize the leader of that effort, our city administrator naomi kelly. thank you for all of your support. [applause] supervisor eric mar was elected in november 2008 to represent the district 1, the richmond district. for over two decades, he has been a dedicated and response of advocate for working families, youth, seniors, small businesses, and all the diverse residents of the richmond district in san francisco. eric and i have had a great pleasure of working very closely together in golden gate park on a number of issues. i want to thank you for all of your tireless efforts on behalf of kids, families, and parks. it isn't uncommon, eric mar. >> thank you, everyone. this is an incredible new rec center. it has been 50 years since it has been built, but it has been a 10-year struggle of the community. many of the people that are here to advocate with tremendous assistance to all wanted to thank the ong family for their support. also the rec and park department, dpw, and everyone is here. asian and neighborhoods and design, and many community groups have

of course, naomi kelly and bill barnes from the city administrator's office. thank you for working so closely with our office. we care deeply about our neighborhood. it is a rich neighborhood that deserves a lot of our attention. and to keep it to be what it is. to talk a little bit about our neighborhood, we have several of our small business owners to talk a little bit about what their experience here, particularly in little saigon, which is a cornerstone of the tenderloin neighborhood. it is amazing what little saigon is for the tenderloin in terms of the vibrancy of the small business and the activities. also, the people they employ here. also, our businesses are truly family businesses. every owner we invited also brought their children, their kids with them as well. the first family i want to invite was steven and kathy from turtle tower. they keep city hall going, because the fetus on a daily basis. i wanted to see if they would come up.
