(applause) >> good evening, everyone. thank you for coming out this evening. it is my honor to just thank all of you and all of the award winners for all of the great work that you do in the community. you are the nuts and bolts of san francisco. you are what makes us resilient, which makes us -- which gives us character. and, so, we appreciate all of you. these awards are important and they're an important opportunity for all of us at city hall to make a moment and salute the people and organizations that work hard every day to make our neighborhoods the very best that they are. so, i have the distinct pleasure to introduce one of my most favorite people, city employees here in san francisco. y'all just heard from mr. clean, and that's who we affectionally call the director of dpw mohammed nuru. and he has a right hand and that right hand, her name is sandra zanega. it doesn't matter what neighborhood you're in, you can call either one of them and they will tell you what's going

i mentioned that within these last few months through the cooperation of our city administrator naomi kelly we have appointed a manager of the caps program, and of course that is the community action plan for seismic safety. it is a plan we wanted to make sure that was lead by someone who can immediately get on the ground and figure out all of the things that we need to do to make sure the soft story buildings which are the most important focus that we have to have for the next seismic event and starts with that planning with all of us, so i wanted to make sure to introduce and congratulate patrick otiline who has come aboard to take care of this incredible responsibility. patrick, thank you very much for being here today. [applause] i will note that currently the caps program is lodged under city mmptdor's office and a conversation i had when i was city administrator and we wanted to put it at a place, but it is there for now, but with patrick's help we will make sure that program flourishes at the right place and with all the different resources that we have to have along with my commitme

next on your agenda we are going to have a brief powerpoint from our city administrator, naomi kelly, who will update us on the life line council. >> good afternoon everyone. i have a hard act to follow, admiral. that was wonderful listen to your stories and dejan and anne and great work and i wanted to update everyone on the life line council and give you a background. in august of 2009 then city administrator edwin lee launched the life line council and recommendation of the 2008 policy paper produced by spur outlining what san francisco had to do to improve the resilience of life line to with stand a earthquake. you can find notes on our website. the life line councilmembers over its three year life the life line council has successfully convened a top level of executives and mutual sharing of plans and projects and priorities much the members are listed here above. as you can see we have many of city and county san francisco agencies from the general agency, real estate, public works, water and power, san francisco public utilities commission, pg&e and comcast and caltrans, bart a

mason, kelly, tray, my wife, naomi, my sister joy, and my mother-in-law. they have been supporting me for a long time. behind this individual all board, there's a team of people that are responsible for making things happen. just for a moment, i want the puc to raise their hand and give a shout. we have a lot of folks who really committed in making the systems wwork. again, we have billions of dollars that we are entrusted with delivering in a timely way, which needs to be within budget. systems like this will really elevate and make it really transparent that we are delivering these programs in a very conscious and deliberate way so we can save the ratepayers' money. with that, i just want to thank you guys for this award. thank you.
