a toddler tied up for not taking a nap. that is the shocking allegation against an east bay preschool teacher this morning. "today in the bay" eastpoint joins us live from pleasanton. teachers took pictures of the little girl bound with duct tape. >> reporter: it is one of those stories. it certainly makes you shake your head. we are told that the pastor of the church is who ahorrified ans no child deserves to be treated this way. there is a meeting with parents after this about these disturbing allegations. a little girl had her hands and feet taped up. that was her punishment for refusing to take a nap. the incident happened at centerpointe preschool where a 2-year-old wouldn't go to sleep. the teacher took out the masking tape and taped her up and took a picture. the teacher shared the story and photo with a former colleague at a luncheon. one of the people there included the girl's mom who is a teacher at centerpointe christian school. she went on to tell the police and the school. >>> we immediately listened to her tal

. >> reporter: the church is shocked over the alleged punishment of a 2-year-old girl who refused nape. a former teacher at the preschool is accused of using masking tape to wrap the child's wrists and ankles. the school is cited and police have launched a criminal investigation. >> children are made in the image of god and deserve to be fully respected and this is a dehumanizing incident that we are greatly grieved over. >> reporter: the alleged violation could have happened months ago because the teacher involved resigned earlier this year. the reason we're hearing about this now, a photo. the teacher shared a cell phone picture with some former colleagues of the girl taped up and sitting on a cot. one of those former colleagues, the girl's mother. she called police. the school notified parents of the investigation over the weekend and today a steady stream of cars and concerned parents dropped their children off at school. >> i feel for the child and the parents to go through this. it's embarrassing. >> i think this is a good lesson to all the teachers, parents and schools and comm

after a former teacher tied up a two-year-old little girl with masking tape because she wouldn't take a nap. abc7 news reporter john alston is live and sounds like the meeting got pretty heated tonight. >> they didn't get the answers they wanted. we also learned the two-year-old girl is no longer at the school and four or five other parents have also pulled their children from the center point christian school. this closed door meeting was closed at times. parents drove off in a hurry after tonight's 90-minute meeting, in no mood to stop and talk about what happened inside. some were clearly upset about what they heard or didn't hear. >> there were people who were highly frustrated, and there was raised voices, yes. >> 114 parents gathered in the sanctuary of the church where elders provided them with a letter from the state revealing the name of a former teacher accused of using masking tape to tie up a two-year-old. >> some were upset they couldn't get more information. they were. we realize we disappointed some by not providing more information than we were legally allowed to provide. >>
