investigators are trying to figure out how a napa state hospital patient, dechained insane, managed to kill a psychiatric tech next there today. we're live in napa where security issues are being raised. >> reporter: this the victim is a 54-year-old woman from concord, her name is donna gross, the suspect, jess massem the hospital is not saying much about what happened last night, just the bare facts. people who work inside the hospital have a lot to say. we had to disguise their identities. >> how scared are you? >> it's a ten, 11, 15 like yesterday. >> that is a long-time nurse from napa state mental hospital, talking about the murder of donna gross, a staff member, by a patient. staff tell abc-7 the victim went to lunch yesterday afternoon and was found dead two hours later. >> i heard she had been stabbed several times. >> reporter: what most saddens and frightens staff is this has been a long time come can. they have filed complaints about patients classified as violent inmates and they are worried about the lack of security for patients who walk around freely, and patients judged
