the wind is whipping through napa. we have a look at the river this morning whereas carolyn mentioned, flooding is a concern. it was expected that the river would surpass it's flood level about noon today. now that's changed. estimates go anywhere from 1:00 p.m. to between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. estimates are the water could rise and reach 25 to 27 feet. elsewhere here in napa you can see downtown. it is just soaked. the whole city is soaking wet. wind again a big factor this morning. not a lot of cars on the road. i popped into the one business open. that's starbucks on the corner. they say they are a lot emptier than they usually are this time of morning. normally people are out but people are staying inside and that's probably a good thing as the wind and rain creates very dangerous conditions for driving, as carolyn pointed out with breaking news this morning. for now that's the latest from downtown napa. abc7 news. >>> flood warnings are in effect for the russian river. it is predicted to reach flood stage at gur

right now the napa river is reaching is highest level in downtown napa. john alston is at veterans memorial park. reporter: napa river is expected to reach its peak level between now and 6:00. however, no flooding is expected in the city of napa. officials and residents are crediting a flood project that is still underway. the sign says flooded, and the vons memorial park was supposed to be closed to the public at a precaution, but that didn't stop people from bellying up to the railing to see the swollen napa river for themselves. it's big, the river project seems to be working. i was a big skeptic, but i think it's doing its job. reporter: upstream, about five miles north of town, some residents were no so leisurely as they watched the current rise. kohl is where the napa river is expected to go a foot aboveed in stage. >> could get wet on the property. i 1/2 natural drainage that runs threw the vineyards and the creek. hopefully i'll stay dry. >> in rutherford we found portions of vineyard underwater. erosion is a concern for grape growers. along main

the napa river at st.ena, a crest expected earlier, two feet above flood stage, at lunchtime tomorrow. we are washing the napa, the petaluma, and also the russian river. i'm kind of amazed that we've had this fire hose of moisture from mother nature for about four or five straight days. there's one more wave of low pressure that's going to move through, then that fire hose will go away, and higher pressure will begin to move in. we have one more low pressure area building in our west and it's going to be headed in our direction overnight. it will be here tomorrow morning. it will be wet, windy. urban and street flooding will be likely. then after that, it's all over. high pressure will build in. and we thankfully will begin to dry out, but not until after another soaker. rainfall totals. new information every hour and everywhere in the bay area will receive another inch to an inch and a half. hayward, you'll get 1.5. two inches for pleasanton, inch and a half for santa cruz. one and a half for santa rosa.

the napa river near napa downtown is usually only at about 4 to 5 feet.ut look what's been happening with all this rain. we saw about 1.5 inches of rain yesterday so it crested at about 18 feet. has fallen now back to about 12 feet. but with tomorrow's predicted rain it's expected to crest into a moderate flood stage. and also the russian river in gurnsville typically very low right around 5 feet. but with all of this rain expected to crest up to 35 feet come monday. if you live in those two specific locations this weather pass is for you. take heed as the rain moves in if you live in any low-lying areas or creeks or streams be prepared tonight before you head to bed. tomorrow cool jacket weather and of course umbrella weather as well. monday we'll get a few peeks of sunshine. you'll notice more showers pull back into the pictures towards tuesday and wednesday. the good news with the next system after sunday's tuesday and wednesday system does not look to pack as much a punch. we're not expecting a whole lot of flooding or wind. tomorrow will definitely b

flood warnings for napa river at napa for the second time this season. the latest it does not look as if if it will hit flood stage. the rains headed south and east of the bay area allows the watersheds time to drain. not fast enough, though, for some roads. niles canyon road closed because of a rock slide. the traffic was detoured to the 680 but we are just getting word the road could open any minute. state road 84 is closed in both directions because of a tree blocking all lanes. and in the santa cruz mountains, highway 17 was closed causing back ups it has been reopened. the state route 1 it is closed near valley ford because of flooding. another road closure. the mana rammic highway, above down town mill valley was completely blocked by a large tree. it took crews extra time to get up the narrow road. even longer to start clearing it. >> well, i am upset. i want to get home.
