a home in napa. both location s s not far from napa high school and that school was locked down but that has been lifted. tom joins us live from outside napa police headquarters with what we know. >>reporter: we know while the main activity is over, this is unusual. very unusual from the city of napa to say the least. about 8:20 this morning, napa police started getting calls of a shooting in the starbucks lot on lincoln. police responded in force and found a young man in his early 20s shot in the abdomen. the shooting suspect was gone, but police made an arrest at that second shooting site near to the starbucks site. napa pd picks that up. pat mansor picks that up about the shooting -- what happened soon after. >> in reference to that shooting, we have somebody in custody and what we are looking at is any relation between the first victim and that person. >> we're trying to interview a lot of witnesses. as you know 8:00 at a starbucks on a week day is a busy time. there were a lot of witnesses there

put napa high in and unified school offices on lockdown. we did a security sweep of the school and lifted the lockdown. >> reporter: lifted about an hour ago. the suspect here got away in a late model green ford expedition. to the second shooting before 10:00 a.m. at 330 baywood lane, two and a half miles north of here, we're told, an older victim. the first victim younger in his 20s. no specific information about the identities or conditions. napa police say from the second shooting, they have two suspects in custody this morning. now, we don't know, and they are not saying even if they do know, whether the shootings are related. they are asking suspects about that now, but the fact the victim here was young and second victim was old, certainly odd and strange. police say they will have more information for us around noon, so any way you cut it, a strange morning in napa. two shootings 40 minutes apart, two and a half miles away, two victims in the hospital. abc 7 news. >> we'll follow that on twitter too. thank you. >>> now to the peninsu

napa, san rafael, san francisco.rn cscars, w are expecting to see moderate to heavy downpours into the overnight hours and into early monday morning. about 5:30 in the morning we are expecting showers, so expect slick roadways. the south bay kind of falling in the rain shadow for san jose. not really expecting heavy rain totals for this storm. sierra snow is looking pretty good. we're expecting that snow near 4,000 feet. by monday we expect a couple more inches. wednesday into thursday, anywhere between 12-18 inches expected for the sierra. possibly up to 24 inches for the higher elevation areas. wednesday is expected to be a bigger snow maker. hoif as of right now, the sierra road travel conditions not expected to be so good. if i take this timeline through monday, which means including the overnight rain and tomorrow morning, less than an inch in santa rosa, nearly just over a half an inch in napa. down near san jose, not even a quarter of an inch expected. as of right now, not heavy rain, but at least we're seeing

here in napa, behind me a mini mountain of straw wattles the napa county office of emergecy services teamed up with wattle guys a local producr of straw wattles to offer these for free. these are for erosion contol specifically to be used in the areas effected by fires, that devastated so much. the 8 foot wattles hae instructions attached for residents. they are out at the lot at the napa valley expo. there are also wooden stakes to help keep the wttles in place to do their job. the goal is to help protect loal creeks and the napa river from ash and tocis materisal s by stabliizing the burned areas. already, tragedy has struck because of unstable ground a boulder - part of a rock slide down on highway 121 in napa - the boulder colliding with a car, and the driver killed, the car went over the embankment. these are pictures from caltrans of the scene highway 121 near atlas peak shutdown for nearly 20 hours this is vince jacala with caltrans. vince jacala, caltrans spokesperson. we brought in geologists.jacala says they have been checking out hillsides ever since the fires and they wil

that forced the napa district offices and high schools to go into lockdown. it's lifted at this moment but very scary moments for some students and teachers. it happened as people were getting their morning starbucks coffee. witnesses thought it might have been firecrackers, who knew it was gunfire. one woman was with her young daughter when she heard it and she ran for the back door. she looked out the window and saw the victim heading toward the coffee shop for help. >> we saw a guy with a long beard walk towards starbucks trying to get away from the guy and then he got shot in the back again. and, um, a green expedition ran off with probably four people inside. >> reporter: as people did he sended on -- police descended on the starbucks then a second shooting took place at 10 a.m. officers in tactical gear are still coping the neighborhood near mclean and baywood. officers just off the phone said that second victim in that neighborhood appears to be a man who didn't even know the shooter but that shooter appears to be the same one involved in the starbucks

one hour later they flew again but this time in northwest napa. >> the victim is a 66-year-old napa resident. driving through his neighborhood and saw a person looking over a fence and asking -- and acting suspicious. he stopped and asked the person what they were doing. as he was doing that, the suspect pulled out the gun to shoot him.>> reporter: the suspect was released shortly after the second shooting. both victim spent the day in surgery and are expected to recover.>> we went into survival mode. they immediately ran inside. i administer first aid. she went inside to get helpful items to prevent additional loss of blood. we used saran wrap. >> reporter: the suspect is not from the area although he has ties here. he also has ties to this area. they will try to figure out how to connect the dots. he will likely be charged with two counts of attempted murder. >>> a correctional deputy arrested for allowing an attack on inmates. authorities say joseph bailey turned a blind eye and allowed a small group of inmates to assault another inmate. it happened at the santa rita jail in october. bail

napa, santa rosa, half mile petaluma.er in the east bay and temperatures look like this, 46 in san jose. 45 in sunnyvale. temperatures around the water in the upper 40s, alameda and san francisco. 30s in napa and novato. so skipping forward to tomorrow where we're going to look at a pretty healthy storm headed our way. here it is 8:30 in the morning knocking on the door of sonoma county and then by 1:30 pretty heavy rain from santa rosa to marin pushing through san francisco. it takes us through the wednesday evening commute, 6:00. you can see it is a mess in the east bay and the south bay. that's not the end of it, though. we'll get some cold air and plenty of showers behind it on thursday. look at the rainfall estimates through thursday night. we're looking at an inch up in the north bay from santa rosa, novato, nearly that in san francisco. hayward and concord, maybe a half inch in the south bay. near 60-mile-an-hour winds and two feet of snow in some spots. 19 inches in kirkwood. 25 inches in blue canyon. back home to

petaluma and napa down to a third mile visibility. novato also fourth mile visibility. santa rosa though not too bad. but we are going to see it come and go throughout the next couple of hours as it tends to do but we have been really seeing it intensify out there this morning. satellite-radar showing high clouds as well and some moisture out there just off the coast. here's our hi-def doppler so there's a few areas of some very light, light drizzle that we are expecting to see some of that drizzle coming down towards the north bay. right now a live view of san jose the dew point in san jose is at 53. the numbers match up and that's when you see more fog forming. san francisco 54. livermore 53. sunrise happening this morning at 7:24 a.m. don't expect to see it though. we are going to have plenty of clouds to block that view. sunset at 5:10. there's a chance you may see that because we are going to start to get some clearing most of the day though expecting drizzle across the north bay, foggy and cloudy. it will be gray out there. but high pressure is work its way toward

as well as fremont, napa and santa rosa. let's bring in the storm impact scale.e tomorrow into monday with the rain focusing in the north bay, up to an inch. elsewhere, quarter of an inch to 3/4. here's the time line. tomorrow afternoon 3:00 high and mid-level clouds with rain to the north. by the time we get through the bulk of the day and midnight it's still in the north bay. you can see it's raining here from santa rosa and light rain through central marin county. by 6:00 monday morning here comes the front as it pushes through the bay area. pulls out by mid afternoon and we are left with a dry commute for your monday afternoon. abilities, once again, anywhere from over an inch to two inches in santa rosa and ukiah. just about a quarter of an inch in san francisco and oakland. maybe .2 in san jose that rain shadow effect in the south bay, always lesser amounts there. wednesday morning looks like we are dry for the commute. as we get to the afternoon we are wet. into thursday morning, still some showers. it all ends by thursday afternoon. that's our second syst

napa, 33. american canyon in vallejo, 36 and 39. there are some cold temperatures but i think there's too much moisture in the air for widespread frost. our good friend marty, a clear, brisk start in awesome larkspur. 30 degrees with just shy of an inch of rain in the past 48 hours. marin county had good rain. they usually do. dillon beach, an inch and a quarter. brentwood, 0.86 inches. felted and pacifica, two thirds of an inch. we are done in this pattern unless you were up toward the mendocino coast. everything else has kicked out of here and high pressure is building in. pockets of fog are showing up. i think that will play into our weather. some cloud cover will break through to the other side of toward mendocino. 30s, 40s, lake, 41. there could be some snow shower activity up in shasta. almost everything else is winding down. highs in the 50s today. a cold morning with fog and clouds to the north but the weekend is dry and warmer. >> we are off to a decent start if you are driving on some of these commutes. in looking at marin

the heavy showers moved through napa valley a little bit ago. you can see had the rain in fairfield. that's some significant rainfall and again we point out the rainfall rates in these areas are significant. so it's the half inch of rain in an hour and again just gives you this obviously an example of a measurement of intensity and in these areas, certainly not far from the burn zones of napa, you're getting some really significant rain. i'm not anticipating debris flows or anything like that but it's something to watch because it's short-lived stuff. it's moving through quick. and that's the key. if it hung out there for a while, we would be in some trouble. um, i'm just putting in the storm reports right now to make sure we're not missing anything, and i don't see any storm reports so that's good. um, more showers all the way south. you're seeing san francisco right now getting heavy rain. um, or moderate rain. oakland moderate rain and those rainfall rates, again, let's check out -- let's go down to noe valley. yeah, .07, tenth of an inch an

in napa, te (pam) happening now... berkeley police are searching for the person who opened fire from inside a car ... shooting and injuring a man in the car next to them. it happened around 10:15- last night ... on west frontage road. authorities say, a woman was driving south on west frontage road, with her boyfriend in the passenger street. police say, the couple was at a stop sign, when a car pulled up to their right. someone inside that car... shot multiple rounds at their car... striking the man several times in his leg. authorities say, the woman was not hit. she drove to the hospital .. where the man was treated for non- life threatening injuries. (pam) several stanford students alleged, they were drugged at a frat party. what police say was found in their systems.. which is also used as a so- called date rape drug. he is now in custody at the napa county jail..ithout bail. ( darya ) new this morning... an argument turns into a collision involving a car and pedestrian. it happened near the corner of fifth and cherry streets yesterday afternoon. police say the driver claimed the pedestrian threatened her with a firearm... and she hit her with the car in self-defense. the pedestrian suffered minor injuries from the collision. ( darya ) with package theft becoming more prevalent... so are home surveillance cameras. now the san ramon police department is working with homeowners who have those cameras to catch criminals. people register their camera with "the citizen's view" program through the san ramon police department. the green dots represent residential cameras. the pink dots show cameras set up in commercial locations. police say that by knowing where those cameras are... they know who to talk to when a crime happens in that area. san ramon police say they have about 200 cameras registered so far.

right now, part of highway- 121 in napa county remains closed... crews at the moment are not able to get to the bottom of the cliff to recover the body of the driver nor the vehicle. highway 121 is closed between vichy avenue and wooden valley road... the accident happened around 5:00 yesterday evening -- and right now there is no estimated time of reopening. no word yet on the identity of the driver killed...
