live in napa. henry lee, ktvu, fox two news. henry. thank you a new analysis of police data shows a sharp decrease in the number of auto break-ins in san francisco. the san francisco chronicle compared the number of break-ins in each neighborhood from january to august of last year, there were 1430 reported break-ins in north beach and that is the neighborhood that saw the most break-ins jump to this year. there were 481 over the same period. that's a decrease of 69%. a spokesperson for the police department believes the implementation of several strategies are helping. they include using an overtime unit to work in smash and grab hotspots, using bait cars and carrying out targeted stings. mayor london breed reacted to the data analysis with a post to x. her caption reads in part we will continue the work so people see and feel a difference by using the san francisco police department's new tools like drones and license plate readers, and partnering with the da's office to enforce our laws and hold people accountable and create a safer

just sitting in the 50's in napa and santa rosa. so i looked up yesterday says looking this morning, the what was a 24 hour total that we got from all of the rain yesterday. and this is what i found this morning. it was almost 7 and a half inches of rain in santa rosa canfield was just 5, 3 quarters nap a little under 3 inches. richmond got, you know, almost an inch of rain yesterday. san francisco about 7 tenths oakland, about a quarter. and obviously we've added much to that today in the north bay. but i wanted to talk about when this is finally going wrap up. and let's take a look at this because we've got the front going through tomorrow. that's going to be the biggest push of rain. and then we've got a back and on this. that leaves us a little unsettled as we get into the weekend. and then we finally start to clear out as we get into wednesday. that's when i think we're going to finally start to see the effects of all of this wrap up now between now and then we still have a lot of rain to pick up. you can see these numbers chec

dan kerman is tracking the storm in napa county. but first, we send things over to chief meteorologist lawrence karnow for a check on where we stand. yeah, boy, it is really been coming down, especially in the north base of the mountain tops. they're now pushing over 8 inches of rain in the last 12 hours, roughly and well, it continues to come down in parts of the bay area. some places. yeah, not really at all. but you can see toward the golden gate bridge. it's dangerous out there. not only getting the rain, but we are getting some very strong gusty winds, 30, 40 mile an hour gusts common, even some 50 mile an hour gust specially over the mountain tops because of all that rain. the national weather service, as you might expect, is issued a flood watch that continues through tonight and into friday night as well. we have seen some localized flooding that we're not worried about the major rivers just yet. but watching many of the smaller creeks and streams that they are rising rapidly. in fact, flood advisory has been issued now for

this some roads up in napa on thursday. this was a long snow valley road where the hillsides there are extremely saturated with all that rain, water. meanwhile, cloverdale chp shared this photo of mudslides there. you can see that look pretty dangerous there for drivers saw officers work with caltrans, try to get that much off the roadways as quick as they could and then in rohnert park city officials are closing down roads because of flooding too. drivers are being told to avoid obviously the areas that have been impacted. that includes rohnert park expressway at rancho very day express. i should say enterprise drive at commerce boulevard and redwood drive at market avenue near costco. there's no word yet on when those roads will reopen. but crews are asking drivers not to go around the signs. if you see a sign that warns you of flooding ahead. heat it turnaround. find another way. here's a quick live look at sfo this morning where the latest tally at this moment is 45 flights delayed? 12 canceled outright yesterday. they

we're live this morning in napa count.> all right james, and we want to give you a live look at sfo this morning. we're tracking canceled flights and flight delays caused by the heavy rains. right now we're seeing 93 flight delays and four flight cancellations yesterday afternoon at sfo, when the storm was really intense, almost 460 flights were delayed. that's more than a quarter of all the flights and 66 flights had been canceled. >> want to take a live look at pg gas outage map? this morning? well, first let's head up to the sierra, just for a second. all right. there's the pg and e power outage showing the impact to thousands of customers there this morning. many of the outages as you can see there are in the north and the south bay. well nearly 10,000 customers were without electricity yesterday. corte madera in marin county was hit the hardest when an underground transformer flooded, causing it to fail. one big issue we did see, though, several traffic spinouts and cars. >> hydroplaning oils will come up to the surfa

he joins us now from napa. charles, it's looking very wet out there. >> i don't think i've seen a scene at rain like this in a couple of years. i mean, it is just pouring. i drove up from marin county up through sonoma across 37 up into napa county rain the whole time and rained hard and it's getting heavier as we move into the day. slick roads out there. lot of puddles on the sides of the roads. i also checked some of the creeks and rivers, the napa river, which runs through the heart of the napa valley, dark in deep and fast and muggy. but from what i could tell, it appeared to be staying within its banks. so that's good news. all those kyla mentioned there's still that flood advisories and warnings in the area until early saturday morning. some low lying areas could flood some puddles out on the roadway. keep an eye out for those. if you're driving around. as you mentioned, i went up to snow valley road, which is in kind of the far northeast corner of napa county. and there were some rocks and debris that br

he's tracking the storm in napa county. but first, let's head on over to meteorologist kyla grogan tracking the latest conditions. kind hey there. so our atmospheric river is rolling. our storm has kicked in and it is providing rain. it is providing wind. >> and also snow. you can see all of it kind of happening. let's talk about what looks like outside, which is to say that the roads are very wet. obviously, as head to the north bay across the golden gate, you're going to see even wetter roads ahead of you. but it's difficult going out there. it's slow going out there. and here's why. take a look at some of these north bay totals. 2 inches of rain just over petaluma cat field. just under that point raise sitting at about 1.7, 1 and a half inches in napa so far. san francisco, a little over a 10th richmond over a quarter of an inch of rain. and we are just getting things started today. here's where the showers are right now. you can certainly see where some of the heavier showers still rolling through the north bay. if we z

so folks listening in parts of sonoma, napa county, especially those in, say, saint helena and napa countyoma county points to the north. you do want to begin your storm preps today and tomorrow, because we are looking at a lot of rain coming our way beginning wednesday. that's when the flood risk begins in the north bay. area wide for folks outside of the north bay, expect your rainiest day to be friday. that's when we have widespread rain and wind expected across the entire region. now, minor changes in the storm track is going to mean major changes to the impact. so this is one of those weeks you just really want to stay tuned to the forecast every day to see what is the latest information with the way the storm track is going. but for the next couple of days, the information has been pretty concise, showing you that by wednesday we are tracking heavy rounds of rain here in the north bay for folks outside of the north bay. the showers are mainly light and scattered. you can just see that plume of moisture aimed at sonoma and napa county. and that's when we look at rainfall totals here j

you're down to 41 degrees in napa. and 36 degrees already in calistoga. so you can see that cold air kind of beginning to settle in tonight and the freeze conditions be. yeah, we've got some freeze warnings going up in the north bay all the way from healdsburg the clear lake down the saline and napa back over nevada on up to santa rosa. it is going to be cold all around those temperatures in the upper 20's and low 30's overnight trnight do expect to wake up to some frost early tomorrow morning. alright, numbers expected to be like this 31 below freezing in santa rosa tonight. 37 vacaville. 35 in napa. even 38 degrees in fremont. maybe use some frost inside the bay. stand with the chilly temps out there. some tricky driving conditions for those looking at head up to the sierra. the winter weather advisory in effect until 10 o'clock this evening. that's probably been extended as an additional 2 to 8 inches of snow are expected to fall over the evening. >> it's good news, though, for the ski resorts up there such as heavenly, which says they're going to open

napa on over towards fairfield. we're also seeing heavy showers about to work its way through the golden gate. some pretty moderate rainfall through the city right now and making its approach towards alameda, still notably dry for the south bay, which is totally opposite. what are neighbors in the northern tier of the bay like santa rosa have been seeing consistently with 10 to 20 inches of rainfall for parts of sonoma county over the past 2 days. now, futurecast does show continued heavy rain for some of these north bay counties as we move towards noon time today. in fact, that is where our very heaviest of rain will be, especially marin, southern sonoma and napa counties. the rest of the bay area really gets in the mix in. this is the bad thing. the timing of it. not very good, right? as you're hitting the roads, getting out of work. heavy rain continues in the north bay, but starting to spread further southward to so do anticipate some rough conditions as you're leaving work today to get this holiday weekend kick

low 60s for san francisco and oakland. 57 in napa. we'll go to 62 in san jose.ay. we have a dry day tomorrow. but you'll notice an increase in cloud cover on tuesday. and then we track that atmospheric river setting sights on northern california starting on wednesday. the north bay is going to see the heaviest rain and the strongest wind. with the risk of some flooding. we'll take a close look at those wednesday details coming up in about eight minutes. let's check in with gloria. see those drive times? >> sounds good. thank you. drew. well, right now you can see our map here in the bay area. we are getting reports of some incidents throughout the area. so we're going to give you some more details on those. you can see our drive times albany to the maze ten minutes fremont to san jose 40 minutes in the red. and part of that has to do with a crash that we are tracking right now. this is on southbound 880. this is in fremont before stevenson boulevard, a multi vehicle crash. and we have gotten word that they are starting to clear that moving into the shoulder. but

then we start to see this fill in through marin, napa, sonoma counties by 10 a.m.let's get you more looks at what we do think is going to happen with this storm system while it starts arriving tomorrow. it's going to hang out all the way through saturday. so that's where we get into some isolated flooding issues in the north ba, which is going to get hit the hardest. north bay mountains, 3 to 5 plus inches on and off wind gusts here 15 to 50. but this is going to hit the bay area extremely differently depending on where you are. let's go ahead and get you a preview of those rainfall totals. this is for just tomorrow. and what you'll notice here is up towards the north bay. one to over two inches of rain, but san francisco only 2000/800. get down to san jose and it's just two hundredths of an inch. so big, big contrast on those rainfall totals through tomorrow. a lot of you in the south bay are going to be seeing what storm system, but eventually that rain is going to be on the way. we've got more looks at the totals and the timing. all the way through saturday, but

at the radar throughout the past 24 hours, this rain system has really fixated just in areas like napaake our way down into the santa clara valley. it has been dry throughout the past 24 hours, but it's looking a lot different now. so it's time this out. san jose about to receive some heavy rain right around the corner areas up near napa and sonoma received anywhere up to around 10 to 20in of rain. it has been an impactful storm so far for our friends up in the north bay and we continue to monitor this closely. here's where our first alert doppler is at right now. light to moderate rain starting to fall throughout the peninsula along highway 101, making that commute just a mess. as you get out there on the roads, we take a look a little bit more north areas closer to ukiah are starting to dry up just a little bit more compared to what we were dealing with earlier this morning. let's zoom in to some local communities though starting off widespread throughout santa rosa, napa, and of course sonoma too. we've been seeing light to heavy rain all morning long, and those numbers are continui

gusty winds continue around fairfield and napa at 8:00 and even into 10 p.m. before those winds really drop off. as we head towards tomorrow morning. so your morning temperatures, 30s to 50s, it is going to be breezy around some of our hilltops tomorrow afternoon. you are looking at sunshine with temperatures ranging from the 60s to the 70s across the board. now over the weekend we will see some changes. here's a look at saturday evening. there's a front coming in to our north. ahead of it, we may get just enough moisture to squeeze out a few showers or drizzle between saturday night and sunday morning, and then better opportunity for widespread rain on monday. certainly snow rain mix in the sierra. here's a look at the accuweather seven day forecast. so we'll keep that fire danger elevated tomorrow morning with the gusty winds after that. humidity levels will rise as the fog returns on friday and cooler weather comes in just in time for the weekend. and that chance of a few showers between saturday night and sunday morning. it's not a game changer for your we

that northerly wind flow starts to impact parts of napa and solano counties.otice they are ramping up up to 34 miles an hour. calistoga, fairfield and it only gets stronger by wednesday morning. we're talking 50 mile an hour winds there in fairfield, 38 in napa, even gusty in other parts of the bay area. this continues into wednesday evening so that fire danger will remain high. humidity levels are going to drop, so they're pretty much high right now. but watch what happens 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. they're down to 12% in concord, 11% in livermore. very dry air mass. what little moisture we did get from the last rain will get wrung out and the fuels will get even drier. this pattern continues heading into wednesday afternoon, so if you are going to the polls tomorrow, you don't have to worry about rain. but certainly watch out for the winds and the fire danger tomorrow morning. a cool start in the morning. 40s 50s, gusty winds at noontime, mild with sunshine. temperatures in the 60s and 70s at 4:00 and at 8 p.m. we are looking at that high fire danger. still hi
