it's more of into napa, saint helena, down into the city of napa, where there is still no rain down here in the south bay. maybe you'll see some sprinkles as you head over the summit this morning. now, as we go on through the day, it is a bit of a break here before a bigger system moves in tomorrow night into tuesday. so we'll walk through that timing together and talk about the rest of the week. outlook coming up in about ten minutes. kira back to you. all right cynthia, thanks. happening now. parts of state route 12, in sonoma and napa valleys are closed due to flooding this morning. nothing new for people who live up there. the napa chp says the closure starts at the intersection of state routes 12 and 121 and goes to watmore road. another closure starts at the intersection of route 121 and 161 and goes to eighth street. it's unknown when either will reopen. the chp urges drivers to use alternate routes, and we want to give you this live look along i-80 at castle peak. fortunately, those roads plowed now, but the snow on the roads made for a tough commute into the sierra. the chp warn

so it's going to marin county, sonoma county, napa county.he south bay because of this is going to be mainly a northern northern county event for us today. so that's good news. but if you're in the north parts of the bay area, yeah, you could see some flooding because of excessive rainfall. and that, of course, we have saturated soils and some areas now because of the recent storms. so going through time now, this is cumulative starting today. going through wednesday, going through thursday, maybe 3 and a half inches in santa rosa navy. 2.6 in san francisco and of course, santa cruz county and the cattle santa cruz mountains, boulder creek, 5 inches or so of rain. so that's pretty impressive. but you know what? we're going to see even more rain in parts of the northern part of the state. so you can see we've got 3.4 actually in eureka, 5.6 penn moment. and then in the sierra right now, a kind of a warm storm. so a lot of rain as well as the snow. the snow level pretty high about 8,000 feet that will come down over time. so norfolk snow foreca

and these numbers, they're up in the up there in the north bay for napa and santa rosa. over half an inch of rain. san francisco 0.30. oakland 0.26 and a few hundredths of an inch for concord, redwood city and in san jose. a flood watch is in place right now until 10 p.m. on sunday for the entire bay area. so the weather service is concerned that there will be possibly too much rain and that could turn into a flood advisory or maybe a flood warning showing you this, the radar imagery and not a ton of coverage right now in the bay area, but still some scattered rain as we can show you right now closer to bodega bay and montreal, and then shifting the maps out toward the east bay right around san ramon, livermore, also the tracy area, and then back to the maps out here. as you can see in the pacific, there is the moisture plume developing. that's a lot of just a lot of moisture directed right toward the bay area coastline. and that will lead to increasing rainfall rates. also, winds will be a factor right now. winds are not too bad, but these numbers will be going up tomor

so far, these amounts adding up, especially in portions of the north bay, santa rosa, santa rosa, napa, over a half an inch of rainfall. so in some areas, yeah, if you get a lot of rain in a short amount of time, it will lead to those puddles and maybe some ponding on the roadways. as janet mentioned, san francisco and oakland, nearly a quarter of an inch, fremont 0.20 and not much in san jose, redwood city, and in concord. a flood watch issued for the entire bay area all the way through the weekend until 10 p.m. sunday. lots to be concerned with street flooding, excessive runoff, and a big rise on the creeks and the streams. here's a look at the projections. we're taking this out into the weekend and into next week through wednesday, and these numbers could really be adding up a few spots could be approaching ten inches for the north bay coastal hills, the south bay even getting up there as well, possibly over two inches. so this is not just a little bit of rain. look at this moisture track moving in from hawaii here and stretching across the pacific and moving into the bay area right

so places like santa rosa, napa. in general, this is the way most of saturday and sunday will go. the rest of saturday and sunday will look like, you'll see what i mean. on again off again showers. it will look very different when we get to the last frame. but that takes us all the way into monday afternoon. that's the next storm. looks totally different. if you see all the rain up here, we can walk this out. we could take this line and go all the way out into the sub tropics. this right here is the next atmospheric river that will be focused on monday night. but also on tuesday and tuesday is probably the bigger issue. tuesday is the day we could run into flooding concerns. when we put it into a little bit more manageable format so we can get a look at the system. let's go back for a moment. here is that atmospheric river. that was monday afternoon. so that will go kind of fast here. but we went from monday afternoon to tuesday at midnight. we are still in this. and tuesday at midnight is coming right over the heart of the day. then we take it and go ahead to tuesday, late aftern

any where from an inch or more from the north bay to a little bit half of an inch for napa and santa rosa and our northern communities. here in oakland a little bit over .3 of an inch. you were lucky to get a couple .01 -f o -- .01 of an inch. that's why the northern community is is has gotten the most of the activity. you can see the north of the loop continuing to make its way over northern california. as it does so later this afternoon that's when we are expecting the bulk of this activity. then quieting out by later today and into early tomorrow. so it's kind of going to be waves of rain that are on the way. it's not going to be a one rain all day scenario. but it's going to kind of continue to see these drizzly conditions over the next 24 hours. i will let you know though, exactly when we're going to be seeing a lot quieter weather and another wave of rain that was under way. this rain does create some flooding issues especially for the north bay that has already seen an inch. >> there's some businesses in san francisco that just seem to flood over and over again. part of the mi

napa and solano counties could see some of the wettest weather over the next few days after a couple of weeks of sunshine. the north bay is preparing for a soaking. the rain is back. what do you think? i love never enough rain. thom yorke says he and his wife have been getting ready do anything to prepare for this yeah. had to prepare. had to bring all the deck furniture in the coverage. the national weather service says that excessive rainfall is possible across the bay area this weekend. they've issued a flood watch that starts at noon on friday and extends till 10:00pm sunday evening. that covers almost all of our region pg e said on friday that they are also preparing for this storm. they have stockpiled equipment such as transformers wires and power poles that tend to be damaged during wet and windy weather. they're also asking that if anyone sees down power poles are power lines in the next few days to stay clear, those lines could still be energized. meanwhile, tom says he plans to stay indoors this weekend. so do a whole bunch pot stickers over the weekend. watch movies hunke

napa. sonoma. you're seeing some light to moderate rain. it has been steady right around san leandro, 580 golflinks boulevard, heading down from san francisco to the peninsula. as i take you down into street level radar here around san mateo. foster city, highway 101. watch out. south bay has had a few showers as well. tonight it is a level one. tomorrow the storm goes to a level two. here's why. here's the atmospheric river that we are tracking. the moisture plume stretching all the way to the hawaiian islands. and it is headed right towards us. so looking at that atmospheric river tomorrow morning, you're seeing the pounding rain. it continues into the afternoon, timing it all out for you. 7:00 tonight. it's still just light to moderate rain, scattered showers as we head into the late night hours. and then here comes the steadier, heavier rain to start off your saturday morning. in the afternoon at noontime, you're seeing those downpours continuing. the national weather service has the entire area under a flood watch until 10 p.m. sunday.
