. >>> thousands of people in napa county have ugly brown water this morning.s all because of a busted water transmission line in an agricultural area. anne makovec is live in napa to explain how long this dirty water will last. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the situation is improving. the city of napa was able to reroute the water supply. it could be brown for a few more hours. take a look at these pictures from last evening. within two hours after the original water main break, the city rerouted water from a nearby treatment plant that takes in water from lake hennessey but as you can see here, some dirt had already gotten into the lines which is why it was running brown. people described what sounded like explosions in their pipes about at the same time as that water main broke around 4:30. the city says a large pipe burst underground yesterday at foster road. it was the only water supply line to all of napa and when it blew, everyone between napa and yountville went dry which was about 20,000 households and businesses. >> might have run up to abo
