that is napa valley up there, and looked over towards sonoma, we will probably see a few clouds filtering into the petaluma gap tomorrow, but you can see clouds working their way into napa and this will be 7:00 a.m. tomorrow. everyone else starts out with relatively clear skies, but that does not mean you don't still treat the benefits of the return of this onshore influx. look at those numbers behind me, especially for the inland valleys, you are cooler tomorrow. concord and livermore, you're not getting clouds, you're not waking up to june gloom, but you are still getting the onshore influence. the cool air will get there. it's not a cold snap, but we will get you down to the low 90s tomorrow. meanwhile, look at seven cisco, look at oakland, half moon bay up there, front and center. those numbers are identical, tomorrow, to what you did today. this is pretty much the same extent of the marine layer that we've had for the last two mornings. so, nothing changes here . this guy will look the same, the day is going to feel the same, and the numbers will pretty much be identical in terms of

waking up with gray skies today in napa valley.ldown. but the marine layer will melt back. as we go through the late morning and early afternoon. and here's we get into more blue skies than anything else. that will be for the rest of today. but look at the pattern. where are the temperatures cooling down and below average? same exact influence. this image in one shot shows you the overwhelming dominance that surge in the marine layer can have for cooling you down. what the numbers look like? in terms of daytime highs for today. we are a little below average near the water. we are much cooler elsewhere. but you are not going quote back to average yet. so you are in the low 80s for the santa clara valley. you are in the mid 80s in livermore. and you are still looking at numbers that are in the mid- to upper 80s for those inland valleys through contra costa county. but you are much better than you were. we pulled you well away from the 100-degree mark and over the weekend, even inland, we are going to get you back down to average. sat

we start with breaking news out of the northern napa valley, getting a handle on the fire burning just north of st. helena. though they are also being evaluated for injuries. they are calling it the crystal fire because it is burning off the road near the bell canyon reservoir where 60 acres have burned. it's about 50% contained right now. they have stopped forward progress, which is good news. there are not a ton of buildings in this area, though you could see how close they burned to the winery with a huge home in the middle of the burn area. we don't know yet if that was damaged or not. we're looking into it. on the ground, they rushed to build the containment lines just a few feet away from the flames. many of those firefighters that spent the first part of the day dealing with the structure fire in st. helena. >> check that out, that was an air tanker dropping over the burn area where the quick response from the air units and the helicopters made a huge difference today. just a couple miles from where that fire broke out in september back in 2020. you'll recall they destroyed more

. >>> all that heat made for a dangerous firefight in the napa valley where four firefighters went to the hospital after attacking a 60-acre wildfire, the first big one of the year in the north bay. this fire broke out northeast of st. helena this afternoon and is now about 50% contained. the flames got dangerously close to some buildings, completely surrounding this one before firefighters saved it. where the fire broke out made residents afraid they could see a repeat of a catastrophic fire that forced thousands of people from their homes, but as andrea nakano reports, there was something very different this time around. >> reporter: calfire says the fire started down here and the wind pushed it up the hill and over the ridge. there are several homes in this area and it's truly remarkable that every home was saved. this was a familiar scene for residents in the area, air tankers dropping fire retardant, helicopters dowsing dousing water and firefighters climbing up the rocky hillsides to fight the flames. this hillside fire started almost in the same area as the glass fire in 2020.
