one of the biggest nascar events in the nation. the stands are gonna be packed.s morning the pits are getting ready for the practice rounds. we're talking about racers like jimmy johnson, jeff gordon, to name a few. the official race begins on sunday, but there are plenty of events happening it. saturday is the qualifier. as we mentioned, roughly 100,000 people attend the event. expect a lot of traffic. if you are headed to the race. race officials say leave as early as you can. security will be tight. >> we have extensive relationships with homeland security and the fbi and law enforcement and so there is always a major presence here and we're always very alert to any kind of thing that would put the fans here at risk. >> reporter: expect a lot of traffic around highway 37 leading up to the main gate. also here's what's being done to ealleviate some of that traffic. >> the -- alleviate some of that traffic. there will be buses and sonoma county transit will carry fans from the track to the plaza. and amtrak is offering a service called nascar express. from what
