king was speaking in nashville. dr. king was already scheduled to be in nashville.o one knew the home would be bombed, the mayor's proclamation, or diane nash would asking the pivotal question, or 4000 students would march in silence. within two days, the civil right's footprint had been etched into history. the national students took what they learned in 1959 and the lessons of nonviolent and desegregating downtown lunch counters and moved on to help orchestrate the freedom rides in 1961. around the country, they were ford to abandon the rides fear of losing their lives. nashville students said we must carry this torch. nashville students did not stop in 1960. they went on to help orchestrate every major movement of our time, the freedom rides, the selma,n washington, national students were in the forefront, whether john lewis, diane nash, it was nashville students that led the less that helped lead all of those major movements of our time. fast-forward 50 plus years, what we are doing is offering civil rights training to our local law enforcement officers. we need

nashville, tennessee. the nickname of the auditorium is the mother church of country music which definitely tells the history of both things that it is famous for. it was built by a river boat captain who was famously converted under a tent in downtown nashville in may of 1865. and after his conversion, he believed that traveling ministers should have a permanent home inside that was large enough to take the large crowds of the traveling ministers who came to town. so captain ryman built the ryman auditorium, and it opened at first in 1892 as a tabernacle. so that's the church part of the history. the music part of the history, the country music part, deals with the grand ole opry which came near 1943 after being in many different homes in nashville and stayed here until 1974 when the new opry house was built. but during the run of the '40s, '50s, '60s and early '70s, some of the most famous people in all of country music history debuted here at the grand ole opry including hank williams, george jones, dol

i think it's the third cholera epidemic that hits nashville in the 1830's. you don't normally think of america being subjected to plague but cholera was a major factor along the river, and even the wealthy elite were not immune to it and president polk passes away 3 months after his presidential term ends. the third of tennessee's presidents, and the last thus far from tennessee is andrew johnson, also a member of the democratic party like james k. polk was. a little bit later in time. also from upper-east tennessee. he was from greenville. johnson comes from very poor background. his father dies when he's four-years-old. he and his mother and siblings moved to greenville, tennessee, and he is apprenticed out as a tailor, which is how he makes his living as a private citizen. and always makes a lot of his humble origins. johnson is someone who paints himself as a champion of the common man and, in fact, supports legislation as a congressman and later, as president, that definitely benefit ordinary americans. johnson is somewhat of an inadvertent president. h

the blue ages were scheduled to perform this weekend at an air show in nashville.t was the second fighter jet crash of the day for military performance team. yesterday an air force pilot with the thunderbirds crashed in colorado springs after a fly over for the air force academy graduation. president obama was on his way back to washington after speaking with news of the crash broke. the pilot alex turner ejected from the jet safely an air force commander says the thunderbirds were in their approach to landing just before this crash happened.>> the air force community is happy to report that major turner is in good health and that no civilian structures or individuals were hurt and that major turner did a great job trying to get the aircraft in a place where it wouldn't hurt anyone. we are happy he is safe. >>> that pilot is out of the hospital and there is an investigation underway.>>> investigation into princes death continues. how the late musician obtained painkillers. the medical examiner report yesterday announced prince overdosed on sentinel, a synthetic pai
