nashville, tennessee, so these two young men represent parts of nashville and memphis, two of the biggesties in the state. nashville alone contributes $36.81% of the gdp of the state of tennessee, $369.57 billion, meaning a third of their gdp just from nashville, but it's a blue city. what they have done is cut it up and done this outrageous reduction in their council, so each person that normally represents 20,000 would have to represent 4,000 and they will reduce immediately the number of black people on the council. they're cutting off not just these two but they're saying nashville itself will have less black representation shelby county where memphis is will have less black representation, and they, the white republican state-wide leaders who live in rural parts of the state, will control the airport, they'll control the stadium, they'll control the economy of nashville they are seizing the economic resources of these two major metropolitan areas to punish them for not wanting the republican national convention make it make sense >> brilliantly laid out. they are reprosecuting the co

charles watson has more now from nashville. more protests are expected on monday in nashville after the tennessee house of representatives voted last week to expel two of three members who publicly supported gun control protests. republicans insist the members were voted out for breaking house rules on decorum. they literally control the crowd they control. the protesters have process. we have procedures what they did, uh, was not right and it deserves expulsion. speaking out today ousted democrats justin jones and justin pearson, say it. was a partisan power grab meant to silence calls from tennessee and calling for action on gun control in the wake of a horrific shooting at the nashville christian school. the reality is an institution filled with people who are more concerned about supporting the nra and supporting the second amendment than it is protecting the first amendment rights of children and teenagers to be able to come to the capital and advocate for gun violence prevention laws. they also point out that their collea

the dished the council that is supposed to run nashville, right. the capital actually is in court trying to fight us. state republican led effort to cut down its numbers. i don't think it's an accident that two of these members, one is from nashville. one is from memphis. these are popular population centers and often with sort of blue or democratic governments that are constantly at loggerheads with the state. tennessee is a sort of picture perfect example of the kind of trend that ron has been writing about so well and the third the third. gloria johnson is from knoxville, and voting has begun on her expulsion. we should remind our viewers that you know when you take the constituents of these three representatives combined, this is tens of thousands of tennessee residents. who made by the end of the day, be without representation, at least for a short while. ryan, i want to go back to you in the statehouse. you have been there all day surrounded by all these hundreds of protesters. do you think being there if democrats had been protesting others

jones represents parts of nashville ms. johnson represents parts of knoxville, and mr.ierson represents parts of memphis. county commissions in those areas will select an interim representative to fill out the term until governor bill lee who's a republican announces an special election he has 30 days to do that. once he announces it that election has to be scheduled 90 days from that announcement all three of these lawmakers can run in the seats they have been exp expelled from. >> okay. that is good to know i'm looking at the break down, 72 republicans, 23 democrats this is according to the line on the party vote it really went down as to whether or not to expel these. that vote was taken earlier this week tell me about the heavy presence of republican versus democrat in nashville, and if there's any expectation that any sort of gun control law would be brought to that floor anytime soon. >> as you pointed out, the vote so far to sintroduce the measurs of expulsion have fallen along party lines. to expel a member, you need a super majority, the 72-23 breakdown, you ex

president, the eveptses this week in nashville, tennessee are still verb -- events this week in nashville, tennessee, are still fresh in our minds. the fact that a shooter went on the campus of a christian school, a school for children, little children, this person who went on that campus blasted her way into the building and then took the lives of three 9-year-old children and three adults who were principal and teachers in the school. it is heartbreaking to think that we are reliving this scene over and over again where our children who are sent by their loving parents off to school, lunches in hand, never came home. never came home. we don't know all the details yet of the shooter or the weaponry which she owned at the time or used in the event. but we do know that there were weapons that were very familiar with. one of course is the ar-15, the military assault-style weapon that has sadly become so popular in america. this morning's "washington post" had an editorial which touched me personally, and i wanted to share this morning on the floor. and i'll quote from it. the editorial boar
