we have warnings right now just near nashville. nashville included in the warnings. we had a tornado on the ground just north of nashville, also called large, dangerous, consider damage possible. it's been a very busy afternoon for meteorologists in tennessee. you can see the pink where the tornado warnings are and then warnings for wind and hail. this is the watch. it has gotten bigger. it goes until 11:00 this evening for communities there in central tennessee, and this line will continue to work its way eastward as we go into the overnight. you can see the showers and storms still blowing up with the storms getting to areas like knoxville by midnight. heavy rain from charlotte and then toward raleigh in d.c., and then even some snow could pile in on the back side of this in the mid-atlantic and the interior new england. the threat continues east tomorrow. you can see the level one marginal risk for a lot of the east coast. >> all right. thank you very much. a lot to keep your eyes on. we really appreciate it. in the meantime, this time of year is about giving back

officials in nashville say another three people were killed there by storm. mayor declared a state of emergency and said emergency crews are working in hard-to-reach areas. >> we are tracking for more storms today. alyssa rafah is here with more. >> we have again like you said that threat continues as we go into the afternoon today and there is still some damage that needs to be surveyed. we have so far 24 preliminary tornado reports from this system. you can see the cluster up near nashville, another near jackson, mississippi. three of those tornados are confirmed and we have to survey that damage to get more information through the day today. the showers now are stretching from upstate new york down to the florida panhandle. we are focusing on the south here because this is where severe threat continues this morning. we have a tornado warning right now just to the west there of tallahassee where we've had additional tornado warnings this morning. we have a watch that's in effect until about 9:00 a.m. for parts of alabama, georgia and then down into florida

rafael romo is joining us live from nashville. the lecleanup and recovery is starting. what do you know about how the community is right now? >> reporter: phil, good morning to you. well, let me tell you the office of emergency management here in nashville says that as many as 13 tornadoes hit the ground over the weekend and the impact of those tornadoes, the devastation caused by those tornadoes, you can see it all over around me here. we are in the north side of the neighborhood of nashville, one of the hardest hit areas in the state where many homes are a total loss. there are downed trees and power lines everywhere, and it is a bitterly cold morning here. many of the residents simply decided to go find shelter elsewhere. the red cross has opened the shelter, but it's been a very sad weekend for people here in tennessee. six people died. three of them died here in this community, including a 2-year-old boy. there were another three people who died in clarksville. that's about 70 miles northwest of here to, phil, and the reality is that the cleanup process, the cleanu
