for more on this let's go to royston jones joining us from nassau.ave people been able to get a sense of what the impact has been there in the bahamas? >> i just had a chance recently to call the emergency operations center. that said that so far the northwest islands, which include grand bahama, anders and abaco have fared well. of course on those islands especially in central anders there are downed power lines, downed trees, debris in the road and some roads are blocked as they experience moderate flooding there. we won't get the full assessment of how that island has fared until we're able to get on the ground and see what the extent of the damage is. but it seems to be faring a little better than expected. the concern, however, when i spoke to the emergency operations center was the storm which passed over bimini around 10:00 or 11:00 and hit it with some very strong tropical winds, they have not been able to be in communication with the island of bimini at this time. it could very well be there are telecommunication challenges. the tower could

nassau counting is increasing its shark patrols along the beaches now. along on one. laura engel is live. what did you see? >> well, we saw a lot of action in the water but i didn't see any -- these repeat shark sightings this summer in new york prompted officials a few weeks ago to be just as aggressive as the predators basically going on offense saying we'll go out looking for you before you spot the swimmers in the water. we did get on a boat. shark patrol teams are out in force on new york's long island this summer combining the efforts of marine units on the water. aviation teams in the sky and lifeguards on shore scanning the waters for any sign of dangerous predators who seem to be moving in closer to the beach this summer. as we mentioned we took a ride this week with the nassau county police marine patrol as they work the shores off long island. >> that might be attracting a few more sharks. i'm not really sure but i don't remember having to be out here as much as we have been this year. >> summer 2020 has been the season of the shark with sight
