eqt or is the largest nat gas producer in the u.s. a, where jeff just was, west virginia and ohio. the company represents 6% of u.s. natural gas output, and today it's announced a a coalition besigned to promote domestic nat gas production and lng export infrastructure while reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. joining me now in a fox business exclusive, ceo toby rice. and we should begin with congratulations, toby, for joining the s&p 500. what has that done for the stock, for the company, for your profile? >> well, it's been not too long that we've been in the index, so i haven't really been able to say exactly how that's impacted the trading activity. certainly, it's helpful. it's a great group to be a part of, and we're happy to be in it. but one thing that's, we're focused on right now at eqt is making sure we can bring more clean, reliable energy into this world and make it affordable. liz: which is, of course, natural gas. we know natural gas, nuclear power, clean and hopefully more affordable. but right now nat gas is anyt

price month on month it increased on average for nat gas. dan, wondering, that's great for oil companies. that's a real push, but the polls, maybe vice versa is that this puts another political target on backs of the oil companies. more pain, actually going to midterm elections, and posting record third quarter results wonder how you factor that in in terms of great fundamentals for the sector but the political pain might be there? >> yeah. so there's no question that in the next three months we're going to see great results in the company at a time when we see administration that really wants lower prices at the pump so windfall profits in europe, that's been bandied about here in the u.s.'si don pu.s. i don't think that's going to happen before the midterm election the reality is, these companies are making a lot, returning a lot to shareholders putting a bit of a target on their back. energy security. how do you punish companies supposed to provide energy security end of the day, there's going to be a lot of complaining not necessarily a

we're going to check in on the energy market it is with futures for crude higher, nat gas touching itse, bouncing off early lows. here to discuss, john. great to have you on the show. let's talk about diesel. we've seen refined products, particularly diesel, remain particularly resilient which we know has knock-on effects to the broader economy. >> yes, good morning, morgan no doubt about it. definitely diesel fuel, distillate fuel are the problem child of the petroleum complex at the moment. being down 50% or so versus last year and even more than that versus two years ago demand remaining relatively strong we've lost some refining capacity over the past couple of years because of poor margins, which have now, you know, exploded higher. the barrels being run through refiners are fetching the equivalent of $85 plus when you cash in that diesel fuel because of the low supplies. and it's also the impact of the situation with russia because the u.s. had already cut off imports of russian distillate fuels we became reliant on and a by-product that helped to make gasoline as well to that ex

liz: because nat-gas is cleaner?at voters care about we saw with polls, inflation, jobs and economy are at the top of the again today and the best way to create jobs, to lower prices to have the production here at home. regret i about the administration from day one as taken actions with keystone keystone xl, that u.s. oil is not welcome to the u.s. liz: nothing drives people to the point of the insanity faster than gas prices. you've seen this, nick, biden says he is doing all he can to increase supply as he drains 2/3 of oil from the stockpile. that is meant for hurricane disasters, not falling poll numbers. it is at the lowest reserve in decades. will white house have to buy oil at higher price and taxpayers pay for it? it could cost double, maybe triple to fix his policy here? >> it hasn't meaningfully brought down prices. should be used for emergency purposes. blaming mom-and-pop retail gasoline owners who have no control over the price, that is dictated by supply and demand. in fact they want lower prices becau

do the charts look similar when you take a look at oil services or take a look at some of the more nat gas sort of names? >> well, summer is considerably better versus xle, which is the aggregate, and dominated by exxon and chevron at almost half the way. but something like an lng is better than xle, while the drillers are not as good it's important to say, as a sector goes, and we know this is only 22 names. it's only about 20% of the s&p on any given day and the total market cap of the energy sector at 1.6 trillion is around where microsoft is at 1.8. >> jeff mills had lng as the final trade. i was shocked to look. we know energy has been a great returner, but lng is just -- that chart is amazing. what's your take >> it's sort of north by northeast, steadily higher, ever-ascending and never gets parabolic. it's as orderly as something like united health care. i'm with him on that lng, stay long, be long. >> carter, great to see you. thank you. >>> carter worth of worth charting coming up, peloton announcing another round of layoffs, but the ceo says that restructuring is done and now the

. ♪ >> nat gas prices dip below zero for the first time since 2020 is booming production overwhelms pipelinering in our bloomberg energy reporter. this is quite surprising given that recently u.s. regulators were warning of shortages here in the northeast. >> yeah. this is a little bit of good news for consumers. maybe temporary good news. a lot of this has to do with the natural characteristics of natural gas, difficult to transport and store, just wants to evaporate up into the air. when you get a situation like right now when production is booming and running out of pipeline space, storage space, producers basically have to pay somebody to take it on, or they have to start the expensive process of shutting in production. even in texas, regulators won't let you just waft it out into the air because it is so potentially harmful to the atmosphere. >> in europe, the energy crisis has taken a bit of a surprise turn. we are now in a gas glut? >> not exactly. this is a very -- it's good news, but it's probably temporary good news. europe has done a really great job of spending a lot of money to
