i'm natalie allen. scottish aid worker is now the third westerner to be executed by the islamist group isis in recent weeks. david haines was abducted in syria in march 2013. isis threatened earlier to kill him if u.s. air strike dis not stop in iraq. on scattered thunderstorms they released a horrific video showing his execution. before beheading haines with a knife an isis fighter delivered this warning to british prime minister david cameron bufford. >> your evil allies of america who bombed the dam will only accelerate your destruction and claim the role of cameron bufford will only drag you and your people into another bloody and unwinnable war." >> david haines' brother issued a statement on behalf of the family. here's what it says in part. david was like so many of us just another bloke. he served with the u.n. in the balkans to help people in real need. there are many accolades from people that that region that david helped. he helped whoever needed help regardless of race, creed or religion. d

i'm natalie allen. one week after isis fighters threatened to kill british aid worker alan henning his wife, friends, and even several muslim leaders are pleading for his life. henning was part of a team delivering relief supplies when he was abducted this past december. it was his fourth trip to syria. in a message to isis his wife said, "alan is a peaceful, selfless man who left his family and his job as a taxi driver in the uk to drive in a convoy all the way to syria with his muslim colleagues and friends to help those most in need. when he was taken, he was driving an ambulance full of food and water to be handed out to anyone. his purpose for being there was no more and no less. this was an act of sheer compassion." she goes on to say, "i cannot see how it could assist any state's cause to allow the world to see a man like alan dying." three muslim leaders in england have released a video calling for alan henning's immediate release. their message -- the aid worker's execution has no place in isla

>> natalie has a check of the headlines now. natalie? >> to the news this morning. fierce california wildfire that's damaged or destroyed dozens of buildings. nbc's miguel almaguer is in weed, california, with the latest. miguel, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the so-called bowl fire ripped through this community yesterday afternoon. this is one of 100 structures that have been completely destroyed or damaged in weed, california. this fire kicked off yesterday 1:30 in the afternoon t literally looked like a blow torch ripping across this community, hopscotching from neighborhood to neighborhood, damaging 100 structures, many of those believed to be homes. it was all fanned by 40-mile-an-hour winds. there was nothing firefighters could do. this worked its way through the community. they have made progress, crews say. it has slowed. crews have stopped the forward progress of this fire but later this afternoon those wind speeds again will be a major concern. firefighters trying to protect the rest of this community that is still standing today. natalie? >> mi
