natalie allen here reporting. and hello to my colleague, george howell, there in dallas. hi, george. >> natalie, good day to you. george howell here live in dallas. the backdrop behind me, the dallas police department. i want to show you here because this quite frankly tells the story. you get a sense of the outpouring of love and support that has come through here in dallas. all of the flowers. all of the balloons, teddy bears, the messages for these five officers, five officers who put their lives on the line just the other day killed in the line of duty. they were gunned down, and seven of their colleagues were also wounded when a sniper opened fire on what started as a peaceful protest here in dallas thursday night. two civilians also wounded in that attack. authorities believed that the gunman, 25-year-old micah xavier johnson, a former u.s. army reservist, that he was the lone shooter. they say he was armed with a rifle and had a handgun. police negotiators say they told him that he was upset. he was upset about recent police shootings of african-americans at the han

i'm natalie allen from atlanta. and if you're just joining us, it has been a remarkable ending to a long, long siege there at a cafe in dhaka in bangladesh. it is now over after more than 14 hours. gunmen finally in the light of day stormed the restaurant, a popular restaurant, excuse me, the evening on friday night in the diplomatic corridor. the attackers holding as many as 20 hostages. and they killed two police officers early on in a gun battle before police finally raided a cafe a few hours ago to bring all of this to an end. an army general says that hostages have been rescued, and that six gunmen were killed. isis claimed responsibility for the attack, but that has not been confirmed. u.s. officials are doubting that claim. so i really don't know who was behind this. all we do know is hostages walked out alive when the commandos moved in. that looks like new video that we're seeing there. i'm not sure what it is. but let's go to cnn's andrew stevens. he has been bringing in these developments that have been c
