we have nate geraci. nate, thank you for joining the show.. i want your thoughts on the role of passive investing on all of this? >> i don't fully buy the market that the market is fragile. it seems to be working pretty well when you look at last year when the s&p 500 was up 26%. i think what gets lost in this argument that active managers are still the ones who set market prices and the reason why i know that because i can look at the performance of stocks last year and see stocks like nvidia that were up 240% while a stock like amc was down over 80%. so in my opinion if the market was fragile and passive investing was driving everything, you want to end up with a disparity like that. and i think the reason why you see that type of disparity between a stock like nvidia and a stock like amc is because the market is robust and active managers are able to efficiently set prices. charles: right. >> see examples of stokes. charles: ironically that is what musk was arguing. passive is like, if you have a pet dog you throw the stick, the active man

nate will lead on that so i hope he'll talk a little bit about that effort. and then on the other side providing research access and there's the question empirically and analytically what is the impact of disinformation that does course through the platforms and the person sitting next to brandon who has done a tremendous amount of research so i imagine he'll say a few words about that but it what i wanted to a particular focus on is at the moment basically we are relying on the platforms goodwill, onel the platforms bac sense of responsibility to do what's right and that responsibility comes from what? it comes from public pressure, from political pressure and other sorts of pressures that might motivate them to improve their community standards in their guidelines and decide what they take down and a lot to pick up so generally speaking the least in the united states it has been basically public pressure and political pressure that has moved the needle on how companies respond to all the concerns around disinformation but i want to highlight however there's
