nate rogers, cbs north carolina. >>> animal shelters are packed full of dogs displaced by the flooding of hurricane matthew. some dogs are waiting to be reunited with families and others are still looking for their forever home. >> reporter: animal control officers have been busy since hurricane matthew, dealing with >> you can't deal with the victims and see the things they are going through. they come in here crying because we've saved their dog and thanking us for what we're doing and that kind of stuff. you know, it gets into your emotions at times. >> reporter: at one point during the week of hurricane matthew, the animal shelter had nearly 150 dogs. normally they hold 20 to 30 dogs. one of the dogs looking for found walking around main street in princeville. an animal control officer from charlotte caught this video on his dash cam. you could see the dog following the team. >> they took off down the road to go to the next house and she followed them. and she decided she wanted to come stay with us for a little while. she's been hanging out with us ever since. >> reporter: people in neighbors counties
