jim waller and michael nathan. one was a recent graduate of duke divinity school. a fourth one was a union organizer, bill sampson and the fifth was a greensboro rez deptssident and the only female and only graduate. she was a graduate of bennett college. all of them were involved in improving the lives of the poor. they had been fighting disease. they really wanted to improve conditions. they lived in the community or in the area and been active as union organizers. they decided to move it up a notch and in october they merged into what became a communist workers party unit. i think that simple change from viewpoint to communist party probably inflamed the whole situation in greensboro. it angered the klan because they were known to be anti-black, anti-union and anti-party. they were concerned because they had had some run ins with nelson johnson and other cwp members over minor things. there was some history there. the police decided that maybe the primary thing to do would be to have an informant that could report to them on what was going on with the klan react

nathan. the city did pay $351,000 in damages. they paid it to end the trial and never admitted any liability. the trust and reconciliation commission was cremated in 2005. a number of people asked to serve on the commission. a number were chosen because of positions in the community. i will say that there was very little support or participation from the white leaders of greensboro for this commission. the city council was not in favor, the mayor was not in favor. many of them who could have added valuable information for the commission refused to participate. i think the reluctance to endorse the work of the commission goes back to the initial reaction of city leaders where they said this is not a greensboro event. this happened because a few people made it happen and it's not part of greensboro. there was a large grant that came in from outside the community to fund the commission. actually a commissioner came from the outside to manage this whole project. they began to talk to people. people who had played a role or have any k

what do we know about this isis connection, nathan? a violent day here in afghanistan. in jalal la bad, where 34 people we know over 100 were killed, over 100 injured in the suicide bombing, which occurred as people were queueing up outside the new kabul bank where government employees, civil servants membered of the army and police go to get their salaries. so this suicide bombing struck to heart of the state in many ways. what we know is that militants affiliated with or claiming to be affiliated with the islamic state, both posted messages online and made phone calls and text messages to reporters, claiming responsibility for this attack. it's important to note here that the islamic state is not a major presence in afghanistan, only recently have militants now claimed to ally with the islamic state and the taliban pose a larger threat to the afghan government. a lot of worry from the part of afghan president that the islamic state could pose a greater threat to the stability in the region. >> while isis has tried to recruit in this
