bacon's castle was occupied nathaniel bacon supporters during the political uprising. originally called arthur allen's brickhouse, we learn about the structure and some virginians who called it home. in the director of the museum. today we are a weekend castle. -- bacon's castle. bacon's castle is on the national register of historic sites. we are the oldest dwelling in north america. it is a very rare architectural style. it's youthe other two are invertedn barbados. this room would have been directly above where visitors would have entered into bacon's castle until the addition was built and the entrance was moved. you can really get a fantastic view of why we specifically refer to this house as being in the style of architecture and that would be if you look out the window you can see the flemish gables and the triple stacked to on either side -- chimney on either side of the house. on the opposite side we have hme on the second -- a chimney on the second floor and a kitchen fireplace. this is where we have the chance to get up close and personal with the architectur
