interesting political developments 1st of all we've been no and 2nd of all we've been the ruling national coalition because no as was suggested as being very persistent in pushing for a general election eve day. in the interim. struck oh wow that cameron prime minister missed a movie didn't made breath. a sort of a fresh in terms of not having so much pressure being on him by alan not to go for general election how safe is the prime is the moment we can position. well in parliament he has only a number one or 2 majority and i think that is something that has been quite precarious there has not been an official vote of confidence despite him being in office for over 5 months that was a proxy vote to remove the speaker of parliament but not a vote of confidence i think in the next month that the parliament has to sit there will be some sort of vote whether or not it is an actual official vote of confidence or whether or not it's a vote for example over the covert relief measures we will see but my sense is that he has more of a fighting chance of winning that vote that people appreciate there may be

. >> twitter question from shelley who's the head of the national coalition for cancer survivors. she says, first of all thank you for you allergic -- leadership. she wanted me to ask you about the recent uptick in cases. we talked about that a little bit and how concerned you are and what you're trying to do to combat that. >> in our state, i think yesterday or the day before, we did almost 29,000 tests. our cases went up, but they actually went up at a slower rate. when you move from 15,000 tests to 30, 000, your numbers should double. they didn't. they went up at a slower rate. we are concerned that there are more cases, but when the positivity rate and percentage is going down, it's still a pretty good sign. i will not say we are not concerned about rising cases and dismissing it, but there are other metrics that we look at. the positivity rate, hospitalizations, icus and deaths. we are cautiously watching those numbers. >> you see testing continuing to build going into the fall in the state? >> it's growing at a rapid pace. i think we will need to ramp up our own testing beca

so joining me now to get deeper into this topic is the president and ceo of the national low income housing coalition dianne yent him. thank you for taking the time to be with us. >> hi. thanks, for having me. >> great. let's start off talking about systemic racism and housing. we have been discussing it at length. especially this week here at abc 7. the disparities for housing hit particularly hard for black and i will latino communities. can you explain the history about it? >> sure. you are actually right. the current crises threatened eviction for black and latino renters. that threat is not new. so decades of racist housing policies from red lining to block busting restrictive covenants to restrictive zoning has purposefully put homeownership out of reach for african-american families. and so it is also put out of reach for them the way that post-families build wealth. so it's created this generational yawning wealth gap that results in today the average white family has 12 times the wealth than the average black family does. so, this structural racism leaves people of color disproportionately l

the national low income housing coalition reports a worker needs to earn $43 an hour to afford a two bedroom place in alameda or contra costa counties. $57 an hour to afford a spot in santa clara and living in san francisco, or marin on san mateo requires $64 an hour. >>> well smoke from a fire in fresno county is starting to blow right here in the bay area. this is a live traffic camera in san jose. not too hazy yet. but we could see a little bit of it there. it is the millennial fire broke out monday near coalinga. some 50 homes had to be evacuated. the fire so far has grown to about 11,000 acres. >> and jeff, this is what you were telling us about yesterday to look forward to this. and that is what we're seeing. now whether can we get it out here? >> well, it is going to take some time. really once they get a handle on this fire, it grew quite a bit over the past 24 hours. now at least 11,000 acres, only 5% contained. so we'll likely see some of the haze and smoke bubble up at times as we head through the next couple of days. if we get quick containment we should be done with it h

. >> good afternoon supervisors, cory smith on behalf of the san francisco national coalition. no real comments on the piece of legislation. in regards to the 2300 harrison street project that we mentioned earlier, we are requesting that a grandfathering clause be added and amended into this piece of legislation. couple of items that were mentioned, number one, supervisor ronen, this is such a chaotic world now. nothing is guaranteed. we very much appreciate the intent to try to have that appeal hearing prior to this legislation taking effect if something does happen to that timeline, grandfathering clause will ensure that this project in the pipeline is not affected. as mentioned earlier, specific relation to the inclusionary legislation that was negotiated and grandfathering provisions was placed in that legislation. again, requesting that a grandfathering clause be included. thank you. >> next speaker please. >> good afternoon chair and members of the commission. i'm representing 45,000 member here in california, 3800 members in the heart of san francisco. from the policy st
