i am honored to have you as the president of the national congress of american indians. thank you. >> thank you vince, and it's probably safe to say that every tribal leader sitting in this room today every tribal member is aware or has had youth in their communities that have chosen the path of suicide. once again, it goes back to us as leaders working with our youth to break that cycle of historic trauma. it still plagues our communities today. and it is very very sad. we all have programs, we all have mental health workers, we all have counselors. but we have to continue to look not only within, but without for the solutions that we need. this is going to take a team effort. once again it's all about breaking that cycle. it's all about giving our children the opportunities. i don't think we're, lord willing, i wish we would, be able to fix this problem 100%. but with so much drug abuse, alcohol abuse high unemployment rates, things we have to work on, those are all part of the things that we as leaders need to work on to make our communities a better place to live. it
