the national association of higher education diversity officers, for example, a real organization with of members. you know, their goal is not to create knowledge or to advance open inquiry. it is something else as i'll get to these. these trends are particularly acute in so-called elite places at stanford, for example, the school, the number of admins grew by 30% from 2017 to 2022, and the school has nearly twice as many non-teaching staff as undergrads, nearly six times as many as faculty. so the joke was a 100 years ago, yale students came with their own personal butlers. well, now these edu crats, as i call them, maybe they're going to be butlers for some of, these students. in effect, students and families are paying a lot more to subsidize well-paid class of bureaucrats. and administrators are more radical than professors. and of their incentive as it is in the public, is to justify enhance their own authority and budgets. so they manufacture outrage, investing it, punish it, etc. this is, you know, my answer. olson, great political economist, said that the growth of bureaucracy

the national head start association reports that more than 45 head start programs in 23 states, which provide child care and preschool education20,000 low income children, have been unable to access previously approved federal funding for the last week. now, without that access, those programs are at risk of having to close their doors in a matter of days. joining us now, national head start association deputy director tommy sheridan. thanks for being here with us. who are the kids that are going to be impacted? >> yeah. >> katie, thanks for having. >> me and covering this. >> the children that we're talking about. >> are really. >> the children and families that face some of the most significant barriers to. achieving success in, in school and in life. >> you know, they. >> really. >> rely on the stability and support. >> that. >> head start provides to them. and these are kids and families who are experiencing homelessness, who are part of the foster care system, who are eligible due to income and, and disability to be served. and so really, the kids and families that, that that again, really need that stability and support

education. it helps with food, clothes and housing. joining me now is tommy sheridan. he is the deputy director of the national head start association.nk you so much for being here. why do you think that some of the head start programs cannot access the money the federal government normally gives them? >> yeah, well, thank you for having me, sarah. and it's complicated, is the short answer. >> i mean, when. >> we really look into it, we have we've not been hearing directly from the administration on this, but we have heard from capitol hill who's been in touch with the administration, that they're saying that these issues actually stem from about two weeks ago when that omb office of management and budget memo came out that did have that that talked about the funding freeze. shortly afterwards, there was another memo that came out that did describe head start among the programs that were not to be impacted. the challenge, though, is is much more bureaucratic. it has to do with the system called the payment management services, the pms. and that system. apparently. basically there's there's almost a run on it. there was too many progr
