point of them and what do they really accomplish jamaal of the policy director for the national iranian american council is here to do you see the studio to help us sort this all out welcome jim all determine so with this new set of sanctions iran now faces how effective will they really be the new sanctions are going to be for the middle the u.s. is going out of things to sanction inside iran and it's really an exercise in projecting toughness not really pursuing real solutions and you know this is not the first time that iran has faced sanctions how successful are these sanctions been in the past. well iran has been under thirty years of sanctions so the entire structure of the iranian economy is based around sanctions being in place and so the same things that you saw put in place yesterday they're a very short step from total sanctions on the iranian central bank and what we're finding now is that we've run out of other things ascension and so we may actually end up sanctioning you running the oil exports and for the first time actually sanctioning something that could impact us here in the u.s. eco

weapon well let's get some more analysis from all of these a policy director at the national iranian american council joining us there in washington and tehran is of course brushing these allegations aside claiming that based on fabricated information does it look that way to you. well it's actually pretty unclear as to what the date is for some of these some of these findings that presented the most conclusive evidence of findings before two thousand and three which is where the united states actually believes that he ended its. nuclear weapon program that i report does allude to activities that may have continued beyond that point these are you know research activities. there is some limited information in there about activity that it can to shore limited information is that not because tehran hasn't been that co-operative. it hasn't been able to gain full access so it's really not too sure because all of that lack of cooperation from iran. certainly has not been as cooperative as they need to be and that's actually that's the game here that's what we need to be working on in terms of you know thos

national iranian american council. i had a question for kevin. you mentioned in passing how -- regarding sanctions how iran has known that sanctions increase. can you assuming you are connecting to the black market in iran, could you speak on that more, please? >> we'll reverse the order. >> whether i think the question is twice there's a diplomatic path to, i think, to the resolution of these differences between the united states and iran. i'm not quite sure there's obvious diplomatic path. if you want to look at diplomacy, it's making small, incremental gains, perhaps negotiating fuel swap which is not likely to happen. or some sort of norbleted restraints on iran -- negotiated restraints on iran's nuclear program. slow down the program. perhaps diplomacy injects some sort of restraint in it as a means of something that will happen inside iran that will cause a change in the regime's orientation. this is a regime ironically enough is quite vulnerable. economic vulnerabilities are perhaps the most obvious and probably the least relevant in the s
