if you studied journalism at all, the raise of national sports media in the 191980s, th weakens the dominance the sporting news. it doesn't last for example. television was also a problem because now people could watch games, they couldn't only read about it. a lot of things have changed one other way we see the impact of media on baseball is in radio. what's interesting here is the owners initially reject the idea of broadcasting games on the radio. so you had coverage in newspapers, but why not radio? why would the owners initial will he reject that idea? of course maybe you can probably figure it out. they are afraid nobody shows up to the ballpark if you broadcast the games on the radio. so initially not a lot of owners accepting that possibility. but you had your first radio broadcast in pittsburgh in 1921 and it is quickly followed by the giants/yankees world series being broadcast. but the greatest thing about immediate radioand baseball -- radio was essentially one way to a ten games for free. i will say more about the depression. you can well imagine, many people had lost their jobs.
