lab ban on adversary nation nationals to all the labs. america is the world's greatst superpower in both technology and in energy. as we invent future, we should ren gauge on strong policies to protect our discovery leadership. sen. lee: thank you. ms. puglisi? ms. puglisi: thank you, distinguished mix of the city and staff. thank you for the opportunity to participate in today's hearing. it's an honor to be here alongside the esteemed experts on this panel. i'm currently at stanford institution's hoover institution and previously served as the national counterintelligence officer for east asia. the views today are my own. my testimony will address why the d.o. labs are targeted by china and discuss research security and potential mitigation strategies. lastly i'll offer some lessons learned, this is a u.s. problem, not just department of energy problem. china's government has efforts to exploit its diaspora. this must be addressed, the rights of chinese persons in the u.s. must be protected. finally, we can't protect what we don't have.
