jumping as we're seeing it here in one of the many national parks, b.a.s.e.deral law, in almost all national parks. there have been 275 b.a.s.e. jumping fatalities since 1981. you take issue, marah, with peop people focusing on the danger of the sport. why is that? >> i don't really take issue, it's just that i think there's a lot more to it. a lot of sports are dangerous. the interesting thing about dank in national parks specifically is because it's, quote, illegal, actually it's not illegal because it's not sanctioned by the national parks, it actually is more dangerous, because b.a.s.e. jumpers are jumping at night. i think there are safer ways to b.a.s.e. jump. i think it's more of a topic of understanding the sport itself and making it as safe as possible. i think that making it illegal, which it's actually not, or making it not sanctioned, actually creates an environment where b.a.s.e. jumpers are under more hazardous conditions. skydiving is not the safest sport, certain kinds of skiing. it's about looking at it logically and not a knee jerk reaction.
