. >> now, we're here at the national press club. it is authors night here at the national press club, and we're talking with georgie anne geyer whose newest book right there is on your screen. regular viewers of news shows from cnn, msnbc, c-span, fox, all of them have seen georgie anne geyer on the program commentating. um, but, ms. geyer, it sounds like you have a bit of a speech impediment now. what's happened to you? >> i do. four years ago i had tongue cancer, which i didn't even know existed. and i never smoked, never drank too much, never smoked at all, and so they sort of let it go for a long time until it was stage 4. so now i'm, i survived, but now i'm trying to go a little beyond surviving. we heard from catholic church leaders, now time to hear from students at a national press club in dc today. students from catholic yiewrvets will present their response to the white house new rules on religious organizations and health care plans including contraception. >>> oral arguments begin today in mississippi in supreme court to invalidate former governor haley barbour's decision to pardon almost 200 prisoners on his way out of office. 10 cases are going to be reviewed today. among those four convicted killers who served on the governor's trustee list. >>> a man who claimed to be a member of the rockefeller family will be arraigned today charged with a 19-year-old murder -- excuse me, a murder from 1985. he's accused of killing a man 25 years ago, and then burying his body in the yard. the trial is slated to begin this fall. >>> u.s. nuclear regulatory commission today is expected to approve licenses for two new nuclear reactors. why is it significant? it's the first time it's had the approval in 30 years. reactors will be built 170 miles east of atlanta, georgia. >>> time to

it happened in front of the national press club building downtown.ident caused a huge traffic mess. >>> a win for a woman in california who sued honda over her civic hybrid's poor fuel economy could open the floodgates. a los angeles small claims court awarded heather peters more than $9,000 today. a judge ruled that honda's claim of 50 miles to the gallon for the 2006 civic hybrid were misleading. if all 200,000 honda civic owners should file similar suits, it could cost honda $2 billion. >>> facebook is going public and when it happens, it's expected to skyrocket to one of the world's most valuable companies. facebook expects to offer $5 billion worth of shares. that would value the site between $75 billion and $100 billion. that would make it one of the largest companies in the world. but still falls short of apple, which is worth $425 billion. and google, which is worth $189 billion. so facebook is already one of the most popular websites with 845 million users. in fact, one out of every seven minutes on the internet spent on facebook. for the av

but first, here's more from today's national press club events. >> what i had i gives rise to the central constitutional issue is the starting observation ta this is a fairly unique or completely unique provision of law. there have been a lot of crises in this country over the years that economic other where congress might have thought that forcing individuals to purchase a particular good or particular service might be a useful means of government action. but the government never did it. just to take an example that as i was resonated with me because it's so recent and seems to me so obvious that a compelled purchase would have been an even more effective regulation. there was the famous cash for clu clunkers program involving a series of incentives to get people to help the car industry by giving them incentives to purchase cars. it seems to me it would have been much more efficient and effective for the government in accomplishing its objective of boosting the automobile industry to simply say that everybody over a certain income level just had to buy a car. much more direct way to acc

group of students from universities affiliated with the catholic church held an event at the national press club. they did it to let the cat out of the bag. to let the cat out of the bag on the actual position instead of the political position of institutions like catholic hospitals and universities. remember, the purported outrage is any catholic university would ever provide health insurance that covered prescription birth control. that is supposedly the outrage. >> i have four daughters, two of whom attended a catholic university, and i want to say clearly that catholic women of this generation know that they need contra tiff coverage. 98% of catholic women use contraceptives. 98%. 28 states already require large institutions, catholic institutions cover contraceptive. 28 states. >> 77% of catholic law schools already provide contraception coverage to students. >> cat is out of the bag. tons of catholic universities already provide for health insurance that covers contraception. including a big majority of catholic law schools. they are already doing this thing they are supposedly so outraged
