two, this will be touted by the ron paul campaign ad nauseam, especially as they head into virginia when they're the only ones on the ballot up against mitt romney in virginia. so you will hear this poll guaranteed by ron paul and his folks. and, three, negative ads make a difference. and when millions and millions and millions of dollars are spent against someone, it effects poll numbers. and perhaps that's what you're seeing in the split with newt gingrich. megyn: would you have expected to see these republican numbers in head to head match-ups against president obama be lower in, you know, because i guess you could argue either way. you've got the republicans bashing each other every day on the airwaves and debates and so on, but they're also bashing president obama. so, you know, has it been a net gain for the republicans to have this long, extended primary, or has it not been a good thing? >> i mean, i think time will tell, megyn, but the conventional wisdom is that the longer this goes on hitting each other back and forth, the worse it is head to head with president obama. these nu
